I was thinking today:
What is the sharpest thing ever made by man or nature?

Is there a world record for example of (the sharpest edge) ?

or is it so hard to measure after a certain degree?

Obsidian maybe? I bet Cliff could give a definative answer to this question. A diamond maybe?

The edges created by flint knapping are some of the sharpest though not really close to the one on that link !!!!

I recall reading somewhere that the sharpest Obsidian edges can be just a few molecules wide.

Keep that Tungston needle and that Obsidian edge pointed AWAY from me!

I know this is true of flint- the first tools were just shards knocked down a flint core- i saw a guy do it onece and he said that he knocked nearly 300 off a core just to see how many he culd get.
The edge is a few molcules wide, and shards were used to butcher all manner of game, including mammoth and elephants...proberbly handled like holding a razor blade. They didnt stay sharp for very long, but if you had a flint core you could just knock off annother one as needed.
Hmn..the first 'throw away' socity.

Yeah, I'd say the glass knives. I mean, the level of precision these things are able to get is just magnificient. Of course, this isn't a literal knife...

the sharpest thing ever is a fart, because it cuts right though your pants with leaving a hole.

Hardheart...so why aren't more knifemakers using this technology? LOL...talk about the ULTIMATE knife! Now that is COOL.
