Love the Slither! Is it a hardwood stick or one of those soft wood ones?

That's right. I've always carried a bandanna, but the shemagh is new to me over the last year. I bought one as a gift for Koyote Girl and decided to start packing mine. Like I say, it's a keeper:thumbup:
yah, and you didn't get me one! Now I've had to order 3 of my own
I've known about them forever, but the surviving one I got back in the early 90s is white, unstained, and part of my "box of interesting memories". It's nice to have another user.
If I was going to redesign the item for use, I'd make it a tad bit thicker, not a lot but some. And I'd make it out of a 50/50 cotton/merino blend.
I'd pay $25 for that, if anyone is listening.
Now, I'm having a rain day, and I've been meaning to braid amyself up an agal band out of 550. Maybe I'll go do that.
I don't pack it either because of its bulk. Been thinking about going with a 3 foot silk bandana. Not quilted so it should pack smaller.I used my shemagh a couple times in Afghanistan...with the dust storms we had when I first arrived, it was quite handy! I usually don't take it backpacking as it's just too big, but I do use military cravat/bandana for the same purposes. Very handy! Looks like a great hike with the family:thumbup:

Christof,
I'll send you a couple of them if you take care of my ATAX and make that Koyote Survival Tool we've been talking aboutBTW, I like the concept of the thicker shemagh...
Actually, I've gotten to play with them a bit and I'm working out some sheath designs for "kit" stuff.
I've also got a host of things I want to change, of course. That's a maker thing.
I also want to talk to KR Johnson about the skachet, because I think with some redesign it'd be a totally bitchin tool with the medium carbon and superquenched steels.
