BINGO This pursuit is very fleeting and fickle sometimes I've come full circle a couple times with tastes in knife styles. I'm currently back into the tactical, manly look. Maybe because winter is approaching and I know I will be carrying in jeans with a gun belt on most of the time now ... And I'm glad you like the CC SMF. You may have noticed I found another one myself The stonewashed SMF CC is too nice not to own one!

I think what it is is that I get fascinated with a new look or style and then it quickly loses its appeal. Probably much lke anything else. Can't say I've found THE ONE. I think I've found the ten but I always think there must that one that's just going to blow my mind and make me want to sell everything else off.

In the end, any "hobby" that is based primarily in consumerism should peak and decline. I say "should" because it doesn't always. But it's probably best if it does. I'm not implying anything bad about hardcore knife collectors. And the truth is many of the hardcore collectors are also serious knife users, sharpeners, etc. But when I've found myself just wanting to buy, buy, buy ... with the thrill of acquisition as my only goal ... well then I knew that I was drifting into a negative behavior. It's expensive, obviously, and also a hunger than you can never really satisfy.

The truth is that being happy with what you already have is a lot more satisfying than buying everything you think you "need."

I don't think there is The One. That's the deal. There's no one knife that's perfect for everything.

But there are plenty that are good enough for nearly anything within reason. Well, folders are inherrently limited to some uses and fixed blades to other uses, I guess.
