There have been several Trapper threads, including the latest buzz about the large #23 that is emerging from Titusville. But I am hoping to keep some smaller, simpler knives in view with this thread! I'd also love to see any #74s you might have!
The #74 doesn't have a swell in the center like most other Trapper-style knives. This pattern has a plain curved design, and the clip blades are relatively wide. These single-blade models ride easily in your pocket; I will have to get a two-blade to try one out!!
First have a look at this Ebony Tidioute! It is almost knife with a small K!! Simple, purposeful lines; no doubt that it's not the fancy model! But you can see right away that it will cover most tasks where a knife is required!! It is light in weight with the ebony handles and fits nicely in your pocket at a little over 3 3/4"! Big, but not too big, IMO!!

Now we have some variations. A GEC; white, naturally textured bone with a stainless drop point blade, then the Ebony, then a Yellow Rose in Northfield dress! Nice variations, but the same simple knife!! Please enjoy, and post yours for us to see!:)Every 74 .jpg Every 74 A.jpg Every 74 B.jpg Every 74 C.jpg Every 74 D.jpg

A boy can dream:)

Definitely a sleek, purposeful design as you said. Plenty of knife for a desk jockey like me to carry.

I own 1 GEC 73 single blade and love it but the 74 also looks sweet. Thanks for sharing

I am a fan of all the Trappers and I have a few GEC 74's .

I basically keep them all as Safe Queens because I have plenty of other knives to get scratched up and not because they are not Great Users . I feel that all of the Trappers are great users . I also believe that visually they are what I think a knife shape should look like and I need more of them .

I’ve only lost 2 knives over the past few years...one of them was a 74 Stallion in green bone...that one still hurts

I adore the #74. In terms of my personal preferences, it checks all the boxes -- clip point blade, contoured handle, ~ 3 3/4" closed length. I remember asking Kerry once to keep me in mind should he ever make a smaller BackPocket, a FrontPocket if you will. I no longer have a need, the Stallion has scratched that itch.

I've always thought the black Stallions look a lot like a more refined Bunny Knife.

Nice thread, Charlie!

I think the #74 is sort of a “just right” knife. Not too big, not too small.

The no-frills ebony Tidioute really spoke to me when they ran these in 2017, and it was the only one I picked up at the time.

Here it is next to the slightly larger #43 Oregon Trapper. I really like the profile of the clip blade they used on that particular #74 run.

Last year I had a chance to pick up a second #74 (from that same 2017 run) off the exchange. It had a bit of patina on the blade, but hadn’t been sharpened, so “like new” as far as I’m concerned! :D

GEC called this one Spring Green jigged bone, and if I remember correctly, some of them were a slightly brighter green color that might fit the name, but I was really drawn to the mossy green color of this particular knife.

Here’s a close-to-mirror-image with a left-handed #73.

And, of course, I used that Ebony #74 as the basis for my Curved TC Barlow mock-up. :D

Tops my list of favorite GECs. Glad I splurged on the last Stainless run :D and really regret not picking up each and every clip point!

Excellent collection, Mark!  The jigging on that AAPK knife is outstanding!

I missed out on these, but I did think these were nice with the deep jigging, triple lined bolsters and extra long cut swedge.

Awesome jigging on that Northfield, too.

Hmm, maybe all the “Spring Greens” were more of a mossy green… :D
