The Sky is Falling !

well, there is that kids college fund, although I'm sure he's really disappointed he didn't get any super powers out of the deal, unless he did.....

I don't quite follow the article. The meteor bounced off his hand and then crashed into the road making a huge crater. If it had so much momentum to drive a pothole in the road, how come it didn't just shoot through his hand. Or did it just nick him? The language used in the article implies that the trajectory of the meteor was actually deflected after hitting his hand. In that case he must be like the thing in the Faboulous Five.

There's one line in the article that irritates me.

Chances of being struck by a meteorite are around one in 100 million.
In all of recorded history there have been like two people who have been struck by a meteorite and that's the supposed odds? Do journalists even care about what they write anymore?

if they cared, do you think we'd all be in the situation we are in? I've been watching a facebook group trying to ban knives in Britain, so I thought, well they must have a big problem, so I looked up the stats. 30 deaths in '08, so then I looked for road deaths, and it turns out that 640 some odd pedestrians got killed in the same year. if reporters wrote things in context, they would be fencing off sidewalks and hiring "crosswalk patrolers" but they don't and this group wants to equip every officer with a wand to check anyone at any time. yeah, they don't care.
