The small sebbie is, well, small

I have both large and small Sebenzas and they serve different purposes. My smalls are for when I don't want a knife clipped to my pocket. They are dropped in my front pocket with no clip. My larges are clipped. The small is a perfect size for office EDC.

I've got no use for the small. My hands are far too large for it, and I already cant tell that the large or an umnumzaan is in my pocket.

To me, they aren't ergonomic at all.

I've actually considered trying out a mnandi though, just as a replacement for a slip joint (which I always have on me).

Yes! I'm also into traditional slipjoints and the Mnandi is the closest thing for a modern folder. Small but somehow seems to fit in the hand well.

Since finding a small BG-42 Reg, I have not touched my other folders (Caly 3.5, Para 2) with the exception of my large Seb (using it less and less though). The small reg just performs so superbly, is so easy to carry and the aesthetics are perfect, IMO. The tiny bit of usable edge I lose is more than made up for by real estate I gain in my pocket...

Maybe some of us need a large to compensate for other shortcomings.....;)

I am comfortable carrying my Mnandi for daily EDC during the week, and my small Sebenza on the weekend. My girlfriend said I don't need a bigger knife :D

I was surprised at how small my small sebenza was when it came out of the box; I initially thought it was too small. Now that I have used for the last several weeks I have come to realize it is simply a excellent performing knife. Talk about putting the maximum amount of blade into the smallest handle possible!

I can understand how some people won't like using it but give the small sebenza a try, it might surprise you.

My first "good" knife was a small Sebenza. I always thought it was small. After selling off all my Reeve's, I just got a small BG-42 and couldn't be happier. It's not the size of my Lambert Inferno I carry every day, but it's much less intimidating and is just as sharp!

Something to consider; I don't use the pocket clip on mine. I simply drop the knife into my front pocket so a small knife is actually a big plus for me. I was looking at the photos of the Para2 next to a small sebenza and thought that the handle on the Para2 would be uncomfortable in my pocket.

I love my Small Sebenza Insingo. I got it before the Large...and my thoughts were exactly the opposite: the large is so much bigger! If I had to choose one, I'd stick to the Small Sebenza. It's not a "tactical" knife so I don't really need all that size. I think of it more as a gentleman folder, and the small fits the role better for me. Still do love the large though.

And for those guys with large hands, I offer an suggestion. If you like the blade length, but not the scale length, try using the type lanyard I will describe. The CRK lanyard is great, but what I find more useful is running a length of paracord through the lanyard pin, then tie a lanyard knot very close to the butt end of the scale. The knot effectively makes the scale "longer". Then when you hold the knife, tuck the knot between your ring finger and pinky as you grasp the knife. It gives you a really solid, locked in grip. I did this to a Curtiss Nano (very small bugger!) and it saved me from that useless feeling you get when you have fingers dangling off the back of the knife with nothing for them to grap.
This one tip downsized my EDC amazingly. Made one handed opening and closing of a small knife comfortable and sure. I use a hangman's noose with 7 to 10 turns rather than a lanyard knot. It really does extend the effective length of the handle yet doesn't add weight nor much bulk for no clip pocket carry.

Using the small with 3 fingers and a thumb may be a little more ergonomic for many folks than trying to squeeze all 5 fingers on there. Plus, you want to caress your small Sebenza - not choke it to death.

I would have to agree with a few members here, although the Small Sebie looks small specially when closed the cutting edge is not that much smaller than the large. The Blade to Handle ratio definitely gives the Small Sebie a hidden advantage many overlook.

^ Nice pix and knives bro. We'd get along. Also agree completely with the blade length in comparison to the large. I have medium size mitts so both large and small feel good in hand, tho the small is just "it" for EDC!
