The "smaller" ZT 0300

Looks like it has black colored liners (me likey very much :D)

They could surprise me and do it, but I highly doubt that the liners are black. Unless you own the factory that does the DLC finish, it's generally not cost effective to coat everything. Parts like blades and liners can cost several dollars apiece. Look to the ZT0200 for an example - those liners are simply beadblasted.

And I wish they were DLC coated.

second picture from Thomas sure looks like it's black colored

My 0300's liner is black finished too :D

But I see what you mean, and I hope it stays black.

I'll be fitted for one of these as soon as they hit the market. I like the looks of the pattern on the G-10. I bet my wife approves of the MSRP...It's a win win situation!

It looks black in the image, but I believe that image is actually a photoshop rendering, or a rendering from a 3D modeling sofware like Solidworks. It's definitely not a photo, so it may not be a perfect representation of the final product. In the first image, you can't see any liners at all.

In any case, I like contrast better anyway, so I'm hoping for silver liners and a satin or beadblast blade. But I'm just weird like that!

Truthfully, I am bummed that this knife is not a sculpted framelock like it's big brother. However, I think KAI will sell a lot more knives at this price point, so this model makes great business sense. It is the right size and price point to appeal a lot of people who might not have picked up a Zero Tolerance knife otherwise. And heck, I won't complain about an S30V and G-10 knife that will have a street price of about $85 in a few months.....

Probably won't be that low jimmer_5, don't forget, this is a ZT knife.
20% off of MSRP is the minimum that they can be advertised for sale. ;)

You'll probably see around $104 then if Thomas's $129.95 is accurate.

Jules

Hey Jules,
Haven't seen you 'round these parts in a while. Good to see a post from you. This slightly smaller 0300 looks like it's gonna be sweet!! I'll take as many as Jules does, just to stay ahead of the pack;)

No pictures of anything! I'm certain there's more new stuff there than just the 0350...

Riffraff, I should have clarified - I was mostly talking about the first photo - if you look at the details, the lighting is too perfect, the DLC blade has dark shadows and crisp details that DLC finishes rarely show in photos. The G-10 texture looks like a computer rendering, and if you look at the edges, they are sharp cornered, not beveled and rounded like the second image. If nothing else, this photo has been digitally touched up in photoshop. Also look at the shadows - they're too sharp edged and black. At minimum, the shadows are done in photoshop, but that's normal.

The second image looks like at least some of it is a real photograph. The G-10 looks real, the edges have been radiused, the clip looks real and you can see the fine imperfections in the clip's DLC finish. The blade could be real or rendering in this image.

In my line of work, I have had to create images that are composites of solidworks models and photos before. Usually it's a quick and dirty way of showing the executives a more finalized representation of a concept. In any case, what I htink here is irrelevant because we will be seeing photos of the prototypes within the next week at latest. I just thought I'd explain myself since I have nothing better to do...... ;)

The first photo may very well be 'shopped; I loaded it into GIMP and the G-10 texture, once you bring up the brightness and contrast, look suspiciously like a pattern fill.

Hmmmm. After 8 PM in Orlando. Still no SHOT Show pics.

That makes me very sad. :( :(

No photos, but I will tell you that it is very nice in person and I think the perfect EDC size. I like it better than my ZT 0205. The G10 is smoother and not as aggressive as the ZT0205, but that makes it more pocket friendly. It has that nice stout shorter blade, strong AO, and thick liner lock. While it is called the 0350 it might be better described as a 0250 with AO and better steel. The photos are pretty much what it looks like.

Sounds good! Black liners? Any more descriptions?

The liners were a greyish color and actually contrasted nicely with the black G10 and coated blade.

Ergos were great on it and would not be surprised if it was an Onion design as it felt like other Onion designs from Kershaw like the ZT0200 or even a little of the mini-cyclone but a bit longer handle. It is also thinner than the ZT0200 but still kinda wide when closed like the 0300.
