Dear Heber,
Thank you for scanning and posting the picture of the SOG SEAL REVOLVER, I have been trying to get a scan on the forums for about two weeks and could not find any way to get it on for the people to see. Spencer did a great job on this knife and I think when the people get one, they will see that it is truly a versatile knife for camping and outdoor adventures. I worked on this knife for over three years until I felt I had it perfected enought to go to a quality company like SOG. Spencer and I think it will change the way people feel about the straight knife, at least the potential to have multiple blade change within seconds, all within the same frame of a straight knife that people have used for years. This model should come later on with several different blades to enable the camper or outdoorsman, (or woman) to accomplish many different jobs without ever having to change knives, all kept nice and secure within a kydex sheath. So thank you again, I have not entered the forums yet but have been reading them every day for over three months, I have talked to Bobby B several times,( he seems to be a real nice person) I have not got the nerve to get on yet so I guess I will read for a while longer. this is all very new to me.
Sincerely, Robbie Roberson

Dear Robbie,

You are welcome. It was my pleasure. If you have anymore pics that you want to share, I would be more than happy to post them for you. The knife does look really good. Am glad that you were able to get it into production.

When ever I go camping or hiking, I normally carry a fixed blade or two (SOG Government and a mid sized hunter) along with a folder (Buck 110) and a folding saw. Having both the Mid sized knife and folding saw in the same package would really help cut down on weight.

This model should come later on with several different blades to enable the camper or outdoorsman, (or woman) to accomplish many different jobs without ever having to change knives, all kept nice and secure within a kydex sheath.

Does this mean that you could actually change out the blade, there by using the same handle with different blades?

A drop point hunting style main blade would be sweet. Come to think of it, the current blade would probably do great as a hunting knife. Still, love my drop points though.

You should Join Bladeforums and participate over at the SOG Forum. I bet we would all benifite from your experience.

Heber

P.S. Would you mind if I shared this email with the guys on the SOG Forum? I bet they would all love to hear about your cool knife

Dear Heber, I would be glad for you to share this information with the guys on the forums, obviously, Spencer and I are very excited about the SOG REVOLVER. This knife is truly a work of art and function, thanks to Spencers ability to design a knife. He and I both feel that this knife, will truly change the way people have thought about straight knives. I saw the need for some type of improvement in the straight knife over 30 years ago while cleaning red eye bass on the banks of the little river here in Tenn., every time I started to cut the head off by pushing from top to bottom, I would always push too hard and the blade of my old german straight knife would hit the river rock I was using to clean on and then the blade would be dulled. Little did I know that 30 years later I would be able to improve the straight knife, by adding the ability to rotate to a different blade within a second, and use a saw to cut the fish head with and then quickly rotate back to a razor sharp cutting edge. Spencer and I have talked about the different possibilities of blade variations, and we realize that the number of variations are limited only to what the mind can think of. Of course, this will be limited to how many and what type Spencer feels he needs to produce. I would guess this would be dictated by how well one blade design might sell compared to another, this is an area that I stay out of, as knife production is his life and he is the expert in this area. I, also like the drop point blade and I think he may try to make this style available. Again, as far as knowing exactly which blades he intends to make available, we will have to wait and see what he thinks. The saw and blade design are so handy because, while camping, many times I have needed a saw to cut limbs for odd jobs around the camp, to hold pots and tent pegs and you name it, but an ax seems to split the branches a lot of times and I could never seem to keep up with an ax, with this knife, you can quickly cut a precise length peg or pole every time within seconds and quickly rotate to cut potatoes and then holster, ready for the next need around the camp. Once you use this thing one time you will say, "What the crap Jack!" Why didn't someone do this before now. One day while walking several years ago, after spending many years trying to think of some way to improve the "folder". I said, O.K. God, I can't do it! I just can not think of anyway to improve the folder, will you help me? And it was like a light bulb lit in my head and someone said "The straight knife has a blade hidden in the handle, use it!" So that is the way it started, the rest is a dream come true for me, I was able to find a master designer, who was able to see my vision and he took over from there. So Heber, forgive me for writing a book, but when I talk about this knife I can not stop. Good luck and tell all those guys on the forums, I am fairly new at the computer and the forums, I have just been reading and learning all I can about the real knife world. Maybe sometime I will get the nerve to join. Write me any time and tell everyone else I would be glad to talk to them, E-mail at this same site. Thanks Heber.
Sincerely, Robbie Roberson
" SOG SEAL REVOLVER" P.S.If the public knew the long hours and dedication that Spencer
Frazer puts into the design and quality of his knives, they
would most likely be shocked,as I am.

So, there you have it right from the horses mouth so to speek.:) I can't wait to try this new knife out, and hope that Robbie will join us soon.

BTW Robbie's email address is: robbierob600@chartertn.net

Excellent thread. A rare treat indeed to know what its like in the design process.
A great looking knife no doubt. Love the idea of a "saw back" (without actually having a row of saw teeth on the back of the main blade).
I can't quite tell from the picture but, I am puzzled by the way how the pivot point is secured. Any idea?
