The sound of the Spyderco lock....

My red Persian's back lock has a VERY prominent and reassuring "thwack" when I open it. The compression lock is my second favorite so far.

When I had a set of bamboo scales on my Tenacious, it made it a lot louder. Must be the way the sound resonates through the scale material.

I developed a real liking for my Domino's sound. Also, my PM2 when I flick it open with authority. And of course, the loud and solid CLICK of the backlock.

The tri-ad is the coolest, loudest, most authoritative and intimidating lockup that I have ever heard. After that the linerlock of the zt 0200 is very stout as well, the compression lock sounds kind of goofy in comparison of those but its still good along with the the millie linerlock. Although they arent locks slipjoints sound good when they snap into place, especially ones with stronger springs.

Gayle Bradley has a nice, substantial sound to it.

I agree, and if you put the knife up to your ear and just SLOWLY push pass the detent then ease it to the point of lockup it gives a "tunning fork" ring to it. The best part is the look on my wifes face while doing this :D

Second is the compression lock, for me anyways.

I had the original "Mini Manix" 80mm with the lockback and as someone mentioned above it scared my dog ;)

The refined "clink" of the Centofante Memory. It is a smooth, solid, yet refined and subtle click.

I like the snick of my caly's back lock. The compression lock is not bad either. My fave is the BBL. Course my fave is a non spydie, Brian Tighe klecker lock, almost silent.

To me, the classic Spyderco "Thwack" of a FRN Dragonfly or Salt 1 is THE Spyderco sound.
Something about those non-lined handles and the lockback makes the sound a bit lower pitched.
Love it.

Adding in my Pacific Salt with its loud satisfying authoritative ("PACK") sound. Best I can describe it lol.

Agree the Millies, liner and framelock along with the Gayle Bradley. They're the "best" IMO. ("THWACK")

I like the PM2 a lot but the opening sound and authoritativeness of it doesn't stand out to me, surprised so many here feel that it is worth mentioning over all the other models.

More of a (muffled) clack (muffled) clunk.

Yeah it is more muffled, that's what I get from it too. It's a nice sound.
