My confession: I am a washer pincher.
(Yes, I’ve learned the propper way to do maintenance...I just tend to do it at times that, well, uhm...shall we say my judgement and dexterity are not at peak efficiency.
)
For the most part I’ve been good to excellent in smoothing out the pinch without inducing any blade play, until my Large Thuya. I hacked that one pretty badly. So since the L Thuya was destined to visit Bosie, I sent a few companions in for new washers (with a spare each).
Man, did they come back perfect. The smoothness of each knife literally blows me away. Magic elves are alive in Bosie! This reinforces my resolve to be a CRK customer for life. While I’m not *quite* ready to give up on other knives, that day may happen soon.
I know there are naysayers, and I can appreciate differences of opinion; it makes this hobby fun. For me though, CRK resonates with something special and the spa visit reaffirms my opinion. (It’s the magic elves, I tell ya.)

A few side notes for noobs like me:
-When they fit new washers for a 21, they also fit a new busing. Logical, but it never occured to me.
-As I posted last week somewhere, they will send out ‘Zaan and Inkosi washers (at least they did for me).
-Kayla is a saint. If the craftsmen in back are elves, she is definately Santa. It merrits saying it again.
-If you see some snail trails on my micartas, it’s because I didn’t have them reblasted, lest I consider not carrying them.
-Umnumzaan O-rings: I think I prefer hardware store variety; I may be crazy, but it seems to make the blade land slightly softer (buna-N vs polyurethane), which I like. I’m happy to send you a pair of the CRK brand if you’re willing to post bost back with your own comparison. Let me know.
