The Spirit of the Blade .

In reality, youv either got the spirit in YOU, or you dont. YOU make the difference, not some piece of metal.>>>> Mr. Trooper

True. But if a Homerun King believes a certain wonderbat is lucky, and uses that winning the bat title of the year, would he be best advised to forget it, use any bat of the same specs?

The important part is the "YOU" exactly like you said. Hey man, if it is only a fantasy but he needs that in order to do his best, I won't be taking the bat from him, or the knife or gun or car or lucky pair of socks.

I couldn,t agree with you more . It is the spirit that makes the difference . How mystical of you .

I think Kevin just hit the bullseye without the benefit of modern glass and a GPS unit to assist.

You all remember having lucky rabbits feet when you were little? :)

Man oh man, I had quite a few, and not until I was a bigger kid did I realize that it did not bring a lick of luck to the poor rabbit that lost them ;)

Even so, sure does bring back memories :)

I still remember when I was putting one of them in my pocket all of the time. I remember once how badly it started to smell. Guess I should have realized that this foot was real and that in my deep, dark and sweaty pockets, it would start to absorb all of my kid play sweat! Darn, that thing smelled like something died!.............. Um, ah.......... yeah, it was something dead................ LOL! :)

I'm one of those that believes in that whatever gets you through the day, whatever you believe in, as long as you're not hurting anyone, it's all perfectly fine with me. I don't have to agree or believe in it, but what it does for you may be all good, and that's all that should matter ;)

As my friend Ibear often opines: "There you go again, making sense."

(BTW- I abbreviated your name acknowledging the quote, I hope that was OK)

Kevin is a little ponderous until a little light gets in, or he lets a little out.

come to think of it, so am I.

Thats just it . I am one of the most circuituous straightforward of people .
Strip away the guts of something to only leave the shell of it . Then you examine the shell for what is real and what is not . Strip away the myth , misumderstanding and hyperbole . What you will have left is simple truth .
How far you delve into the guts is up to you .
There is no such thing as magic as there is no such thing as science .
A scientist is a man without spirit as a spirit is a man without physical substance . Oops there I go getting ponderous . L:O:L

No reason why a Scientist can't have a spirit. The "Science" that people try to use to explain away spirits is not science at all, as it can not be observed or tested; Thus they prove themselvs wrong by their own speculation.

im a Science major, and I am very spiritualy inclined. But then again, I am of the school of thought that says a Chemist can also be a good painter or musician, and smooth with the ladies. OLD School is the ONLY school. :p

We we looking at it last night and I suggested melting it down and making a few bullets out of it. For that perfect Deer hunt.

Warning: thread veer.

Recently I was trying to harden up some lead for bullet use; the only solder laying around was silver solder. It ended up in the pot. The resulting load was satisfactory in the Winchester, not quite so in the Taurus. (See my .sig.)

More importantly, it got me to thinking: when one is utilizing silver bullets against werewolves and/or the undead, just how much silver must be present for the bullet to be effective? Is there a definite cutoff or is it variable? Do the ballistic properties of the load itself play a role? Is it preferable to shoot a werewolf with a pure silver .22 LR or a 5% silver .44 Mag?

Enquiring minds want to know and as far as I can tell, the topic has never been dealt with in detail.

And inquiring minds have a need to know, as well. If a 5% proportion of silver to other metals in the bullet is sufficient, then the home hobbiest can stretch his frugal budget a little more, and be able to kill that many more werewolves. If this is true, than killing a werewolf or even a vampire is no longer a rich man's game, but is sport for every man. Civic duty as well.

you would need to scientifically study this to determine the (ld50) dose of silver molecules per unit of body weight it takes to kill 50% of a statistically valid sized sample of werewolves within the required time. of course, to save having to collect too many were's, you start with a low %, say 1% then slowly work your way up until half your tested wolves at that level are killed. you could then continue up to the ld100 limit & see what percentage silver you used to reach that level. you may also find that at lower levels of silver the lead exerts a sheilding effect, reducing the efficiency of the silver ions. if anyone has a ready source of both silver and werewolves, we could probably get a nice juicy grant from the government. heck, we probably don't even need the wolves or the silver, we'd get the grant anyhoo. stranger subjects have been paid fer outta our tax money.

we could do the same thing with wampirs and holy water, what level of cleric is required to bless the water? is water blessed by a bishop more effective, or is a cardinal required. what dilution of holy water in normal water is required for ld50? is holy water effective against non-christian vampires?

we may have discovered a new source of income, i'm sure the defense department would gladly return some of our tax dollars to enable us to set out a foundation to answer all these lines of study and more.

I have taken over Kevin the Grey,s computer to deal with you half witted lice ridden humans . While it is unknown to him Kevin comes from a long line of Were-killers . We half suspect there is some of our lineage in their as well . He has made such fine near dark shots that we suspect he can see in the dark . Every time I attack one of you genetic rejects I have to de-louse myself with flea powder and be de-wormed . Be warned . Your puny speculative testing will only result in harm to yourselves . On second thought make your tests .They will be to no avail . You who look down on zombies are not much more than that to us . If you walk in the country after midnite and hear a stealthy step behind you . Do not fear . It won,t be one of us . The only warning you will receive is when we decide to rip your head off . Have a nice day .

Ummm guys ? I,m gonna shut down for a few days . Apparently someone is fooling with the old puter without permission .

On a separate note . Does anyone know how to disinfect a dog bite ? I was bitten by a huge one last night . I,m almost thinking of not bothering as it has already started to heal over . In fact as I type this I can see it is almost gone .
I guess I am alright nOWWWWW !

don't worry about it too much, i was similarly bitten on the neck by a large black flappy creature a few nights ago while i was in northern romania, i managed to bite it back, it's blood tasted strange, but unusually satisfying. it healed over in a couple of days.

my strength keeps coming back stronger and stronger, my grey hair is turning black again, and my night vision is phenominal and i think i'll start my flying lessons again. i do have these cravings tho.

well, anyway, i think i'll pop out down the pub for a drink, i've got this unbelieveable thirst, i could just kill someone for a drink.............

You are batty if you think I,ll fall for that one though I have started to wolf down my food . I have this strange attraction towards little girls in Red riding hoods . I am also mortally fearful of woodsmans axes . On the other hand Grandmas seem to like me .

"Honest officer, that feller wuz a vampire, and I kin prove it". . ."How?". . . ."Wellsir, I drove me a stake thru his heart, and he died straightaway, musta been a durn vampire, right?" :foot: :D
