I just noticed the Spyderco page and am bringing this question here. Does anyone have any opinions or reviews on any of the knives in the line? They seem like a great combination. I am mainly looking at the Forager and the Woodlander but any information is welcome. I noticed where one person wasn't happy with their sheath and got a sweet aftermarket sheath. What sucks about the sheath from the factory? Thanks for all who have contributed on the General Discussion thread.

Nothing sucks about the factory sheath, it is just that an aftermarket sheath can better fit the desires of the individual.

The handle should fit most sizes of hand and should give some grip security even when wet.

It is a light, fast, agile design that can slice and do some chopping.

The steel is a quality Austrian steel that is pretty rust resistant with minimum care.

These knives have the most comfortable handles you will ever... handle.
I have the Forester, which is a little blade heavy and good for chopping. If you don't have a lot of chopping to do I expect the shorter variations would be balanced nicely on your index finger (don't know for sure though).

Highly recommended.

Oh, and on the sheaths.
I generally make my own out of leather. Partially for looks, also because I get to design them myself.
I'm pretty picky as to how a fixed blade rides on my hip.

Can you post some pics of your sheaths? Thanks for the info on the knives.

I've had plans in the works for a few months, and just recently found the time to construct my sheath, unfortunately my stitching needle broke on the last corner, so the sheath isn't finished. Nevertheless it it mostly done, just some final trimming and dying to do once I get another stitching needle (probably sometime in May).

I also ground down the top of the thumb ramp on the Forester, giving my thumb a smooth place to rest when using the finger choil.

i own a forager (which im VERY pleased with) and after handeling it for about 8 months, i got a little "fed up" with the "plastic piece" of a sheath and made my own in leather (http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=531242)
i made the sheath mainly because i wanted a more natureish sheath. shure, there is nothing wrong with the stock sheath, its rugged, it clips to everything and well its rugged. but there is something about a nice leather sheath (especially if u made it yourself)
if you buy a hossom, you are gonna like the sheath, it has a good fit and all, but what sucks? its plastic (kydex)

other then that, i love the knife. i settled for the forager, since its a "mid-way" between the woodlander and the forrester. i bet the forrester is better on chopping, and the woodlander is better on detail work.

if you have the chance to handle all of them before buying, you should, best way to find "your knife"
