The Spyderco Native 5 Pros/Cons?

I got the Native 5 not too long ago. I like the size, but I have to admit it is a lot smaller than I had expected. Lockup is great, blade is perfectly centered, and the overall fit and finish is great. I usually carry my Sage 1 or Caly 3.5, but the Native 5 has its place in my rotation. I like it a lot. I think it is a good buy. :D

Thanks for the input, I really am liking the knife.I just can't seem to buy one yet. Every time I go to buy a knife, I end up with something different. Just now, I bought a GITD manix2. :( I can't stop buying knives I tells ya.

I have to admit, I have a hard time deciding whether to carry my manix2 or my Native5 in the morning. Very different knives, but each is great in its own way. Spyderco hit those designs out of the park.

Got mine a while back and it's still in my edc rotation, survived a knife phase out; part of my light edc/ slicer section. More important than the weight is balance. When the knife is in user position, the balance is perfect. The knife's back choil will rest in a stable manner on the middle finger and feels light in hand. The weight is more noticeable when close and held in hand. Usually worn in jeans or cargo pants pocket and don't notice the weight as much, got other things in the pocket to keep it company. I would imagine that wearing it with dress pants or any other pants built of lighter material is another story.

Build quality is spot on, very similar, if not equal to sprint run quality. Also would prefer to not have the clip holes on the presentation side, but then again, that would limit its market.

As always, best way to tell if it's for you is to try it in hand. Good luck.

Personally, I have a preference for the ergonomics of its leaf bladed sister the Caly 3.

Even so I will likely get the upcoming full titanium variant of the Native. I was able to examine it during this year's Spyderco event in Amsterdam, and it was one of the highlights in my opinion.

Dagon, thank you for posting that vid, by the way. Very informative and helped in deciding what upcoming Spydie models would be in a want list.

No doubt. When I first picked up the Manix2, i pretty much left every other knife I own fall by the wayside. They are so comfortable in the hand, and carry well.
