The sickness is real!!
I am so happy with the current state of my Spydie collection that I felt obligated to share.

SAL, ERIC, THANK YOU !!! I appreciate your attention to detail, design aesthetic, and mostly your devotion to the actual use of your knives, evident in the ergos and value for dollar that each model brings.
Please keep it up!!

So... questions for the audience:
1. what is this collection missing?
I am constantly checking any sales or trade thread with the magic word. I am always looking to try different Spyderco's. Currently, I'd love to try a Schempp Bowie, Hungarian, Volpe or Spyfox, or possibly a micarta Jess Horn. What other models must I try? What are your favorites that are slept on?

2.How many Spydercos are too many Spydercos?
I have been collecting for just over 2 years, and many knives have come and gone. I despise the idea of owning a knife that I am not using, so I am starting the process of paring down the collection to just the all-stars. How many do you have? Which ones do you use more than others? what made you decide to increase, or decrease the total size of the collection?

3. this next question is an all-skate
Please let me know what you think! Thanks everyone here for being such an awesome community!
any questions or comments?

Damn nice collection! What kind of scales are on that PM2? My addiction is the PM2 and I have a few more that are not in this pic. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1455850070.904804.jpg

I would agree that a serrated spydie (probably a salt) is called for.

Regarding question 2, I think that is a healthy attitude. I too am always weeding the dust collectors out of my "collection". I try to keep it under a dozen folders at any given time.

No such thing as too many. I think you're missing a dragonfly, a full titanium, an alumite, a serrated, a lum and a dyad. To start.

Dang man, that's is a nice collection; since you have a Superleaf you might need a super hawk; I always lusted after that Barong, a Navaja might fit in there too or a Persian large. I had to thin my collection due to financial woes but now I regret it.
And like Ericz said above, a PM2 is addictive, especially the sprint runs (the brown one is not a sprint, I learned recently, I was deceived) oh and the LionSpy is an awesome one, as well as the Lum Tanto; and the Dodo, and the....gee, so many good blades from Spyderco!
Anyway, did you ever flip a Domino? Nice collection like I said, now you need some spyderpacs to hold them.

Maybe something a little larger. A Military is a must own Spydie. Mine sees a lot of use.

Nice collection, great to see you use them too

That Superleaf is one I don't have but wish I did. Occasionally see a Superleaf on the exchange here but usually the sell is to CONUS only... :(

1: What is missing? That's so subjective, I can only offer an opinion. A Military is, to me, an iconic must have and such a great user. The Slysz Bowie is expensive, took me a while to pony up for one but I'm sure glad I did, awesome folder. And perhaps something in S90V/S110V.

2: I think your philosophy here is excellent. Myself, I'm still fighting the mindset of "He who dies with the most knives, wins". I'm hoping to grow out of that in time. I do occasionally gift a folder to someone though, love to share the joy with those I think will appreciate it.
Here's my current Spyderco collection, all get used, some a lot, some not very often.
Most used are the Manix XL, Para2 in S30V and Elmax. Military and GB are close behind.
Least used, so far, are the Orange Para 2 XHP and the Sage 4.
The Sage 4 is so beautiful in every way that I get most enjoyment just from admiring it. That's normal right??
Well, once it gets a few scratches on it I'll get over that and carry it more.

1. I don't think I see any Sages in there. I thought I only wanted a Sage 1 until I got my hands on a Sage 2. I didn't think I'd like that smooth titanium or the frame lock. Boy was I wrong. The sound it makes when I flick it open with my middle finger is music to my ears. It's quickly become one of my favorites. Native 5 is high on the list for me too. Not too big but not too small either. I have the N5 LW and can't wait to add a G10. Last, I'll agree with what joeldworkin307 said, a Dragonfly is a must IMO. I really like my FRN version and I received a G10 today. Wow! For a small knife that little G10 DF is solid!

2. I'm much newer at this than you are so I really can't advise here. I researched heavily and was fortunate enough to have a friend send me some to try before I buy. So far I like all of them and try to give them all some pocket time. I have a couple more on my list and I'll have an even dozen. But, like you I don't want knives laying around that I don't use so I imagine I'll eventually send a few to new homes. But I'm sure the ones that leave will be replaced with new models that come out that I want to try, like the smaller PM2.

3. I think you have a great collection going!

micarta slabs and geared backspacer from cuscadi. It looks and feels incredible. You have, I feel, a proper number of PM2's!

on_the_edge and surfingringo, yes, I have been jonesing a full serrated edge, or at least a combo with a really good run of spyderedge. On the list for me is perhaps a salt rescue that I could leave in the car. (living in NC means everything else rusts) Perhaps, an emerson opening full serrated endura. that would be sweet

Joel,
My first spyderco was a Dragonfly zdp, and I have owned a couple since, but I can't get over the fact the pivot isn't notched. When I would try to adjust the action, it would just spin. I need to be able to adjust, and take apart every one of my knives. I did give my rock-climbing boss a dragonfly full serrated salt and she loves it!

Full Titantium, yes! alumite, not sure. serrated, yes. Bob lum tanto sprint would be on the list if I could find a good deal.

makariotes,
lum tanto and the dodo are eventual must-haves for me. The lum tanto is gorgeous. You loving yours??
As for the dodo, i never liked the look of Eric's designs until I held them. I think he and I have the same exact hand. Now, I can't help but want to try all of them.

I do have a Domino in the pic! 2nd from the top left, it has a ShepCC cf/toxic handle scale. it does flip insanely well.
Also, I totally need spyderpacs. bad...

Fixed blade

lum tanto and the dodo are eventual must-haves for me. The lum tanto is gorgeous. ...
I owned two Lum Tanto folders. Original CE with coated blade and sprint, which I sold. Used money to buy Lum tanto fixed blade. this is the gorgeous knife and still avalable at some dealers at great price. I saw it few days ago at my favorite pharmacy, which mails bandages to their customers for free:).

Either one is a winner in my book. Don't be surprised if you ultimately end up with both.

Mr. Miller,

Nice collection! I particularly enjoy the patina on your super blue caly. As far as what is missing, well nothing really, but... I don't see a Mantra, Dragonfly 2 ZDP, or a Yojimbo 2 (did not care for this one until I held and flipped it open).

I also use all of my knives and thin the herd when I don't or won't carry one. This is my complete Spyderco collection. Well, sort of it is minus the S110V PM2 pre-order that is taking so long I forget about it now and then.
