The Story of Emerson-Kershaw

Can life get any better for us in the knife world? I submit that it cannot!

Thanks for the post.

I appreciate your summary and background that you provided. I think the key word is "partnership" and such a simple word to describe what may be a very complex business relationship.

The knife business has never been better. I look forward to seeing things develop with Kershaw. Stay safe.

Death threats against EE?! That is like going up to Chuck Norris and calling him a pussy.

Anyway, good to hear the great news of a partnership with Kershaw.

Thank you, Mr. Emerson.
I have to admit, I am one of the many that know your name, products, and understand what the brand means, but are unable to afford (at least for now) an Emerson original. I will be ordering at least one of these new partnership blades (CQC-6K for sure). Thank you for making your amazing designs available to the masses. However, I HATE that your designs are being made available to the masses! It's going to be that much more difficult to get a hold of that Journeyman I've been wish-listing for the past year!
Keep up the incredible work, sir. Long days and pleasant nights

This is quite an exciting story. No sooner had I decided not to buy any more knives without the Emerson "wave-like opener" than you announce a partnership with Kershaw/ZT. Your tale of caution is also inspiring. Dostoevsky was very prescient about the direction that sheer envy would take society, and nothing much surprises me any more.

This is just pure awesome!
Thanks for the post.
Here's hoping that those who threaten you and yours, get nasty diseases where things fall off.
Cheers

Good stuff...but sure would like bigger blade versions. Can't please us all though.

Firstly, sorry to hear the bad news, well wishes to you and yours.

Second off, I think a lot of long time Emerson users were surprised to see that Traditional Emerson blade sizes were eschewed in favor of typical Kershaw blade sizes, This might be a bit off putting to the original Emerson fans, but I think it is probably a smart (and calculated) move to appeal to the types of consumers that Kershaw typically tries to reach with products at this price point. That being said, I really hope that if this run proves successful (which I am sure that it will) more and slightly larger designs will be drafted for a more dare I say "tactically minded" group of consumers. It would be nice to see the Emerson Wave on knives at the PX.

Third, while we are listing improbable demands ;) please put a CQC-8 HD model out. I know this will probably never actually occur, but I feel that this is the knife that soldiers should have in their pockets. I remember reading somewhere that the HD line was essentially dead, so at least keep making them as customs so that I can eventually have the fortune of snagging one. The ZT model is super nice, but there is just something about having a framelock from the Emerson factory that is incomparable.

Fourth, thank you for putting the EDC-1 on the market. It is an amazing EDC knife for kicking around town, and the first production knife that I have been really excited about in years. This will be a good year for the Emerson family. I hope that you continue to prosper safely for many years to come.

Which brings us to Kershaw. Kershaw had been in contact with me for several years and we had played with several designs but I had never pulled the trigger on a collaboration, because I wasn’t after a collaboration, I was after a partner.

You mean, except for the Kershaw/Emerson Auto-Commander collab, right? (Oh, and the Protech cqc autos, and...)

Thank you a million times over !!!!!!! I have a Super commander and used to own a Sark ( I will continue to buy the originals ). I am going to buy every model that comes from this partnership..... CAN'T wait ........does anyone know when they are going to be released for sale to the public ?

Thank You Mr Emerson for all your years of hard work... The Emerson / Kershaw knives are outstanding and at that price point will be a welcome addition to all of those whom cannot afford to get a regular Emerson (all without sacrificing any quality) .

The (my) ZT Emerson has already been prepaid and I am eagerly awaiting its release ( in CF no less :D )

I live in So Cal and often visit the Emerson Factory... Your employees are always courteous, enthusiastic & knowledgeable! That alone has made me a true fan of The Emerson brand... In my dealings with Kershaw / KAI I have found them to be of similar composition.... Nice people.

All in all, I am exited about your partnership, It's a win win for the knife industry and especially the consumer.

Continued success

-Martin
