The Stukuri!

I went and looked up "bad-ass" in the 2013 Webster's dictionary.... and there was a photo of this knife!!! :eek: :D :thumbup:

Thanks everyone. Thanks Lorien. Glad to see you got it so quickly.

Re: the splotchy hamon. This one was forged close to shape and being the knife it is, I wasn't planning on it being pretty so I didn't use clay in the heat treat. The hamon is from geometry etc. It did use anti-scale though so I'm not sure how much that may have acted as a thermo barrier and quite likely did.
The higher temperature in tempering, to impart toughness, I think took some of the hamon away.

Lorien did have more of a say than the name as the handle design was his. I chose teak as I figured it would hold up well to the damp environment of the Pacific NW woods. Plus it's so gummy that it actually has quite a grippy feel.

As far as the sheath, well I figure an outing with Lorien will give it the character some may feel is lacking. This one is top grain leather inside and out and treated with Obenauf's LP inside and out to suit it's use and environment.

I lightly cold blued the blade to see if that would help against the elements.

Thanks for the kind words all.. Wish I had one for my own chores.

Here's a pic I took to send to Lorien.

My oh my.. What a beautiful gorgeous beast of a knife. Outstanding!

Thanks for sharing.

Thats a fantastic design, I love the shape and the whole look of it! Lorien, I have some serious knife envy of your collection!

I like this one too. Absolutely love the handle shape. The sheath is a beauty In my opinion.

Holy Cow... SWEET! Thumbs up.

I didn't think about it until I saw this. That hemp wrap in the middle of the handle should help with the grip without distorting the handle proportions too much. I've seen people do it with paracord, but that seems too disproportional.

my video camera thingy crapped the bed on me so I didn't get much footage other than a little with the camera which I'm too tired to post now.

Anyway, today's adventure included chopping some timbers;
