When I find a 111 in Pearl or Ivory, I will then have a 111 in my collection. So just a few pics I took last night while I had a couple Buck knives out.
One of my newest acquisitions for 2016, followed me home from the gun show yesterday. A Buck 119 with a gold titanium nitride blade and brass furniture. These were a special project of 750 knives in 1996 for Sportsman's Guide, a catalog retailer in Minnesota.
ITE! R U OK? This is the day that the earth stood still for me. Bless your heart. I never thought that I would see the day when the brass 111 would have daylight shed upon it. Outstanding of you and thanks a million. Stunning. Beautiful. Everything that I hoped it would be. Best to leave it with me while U R out of town don't you think. 4 safe keeping. You know I pestered Vern Taylor for years for his (the only known one at the time until you worked your magic and discovered yours) but it went to a much more deserving individual who many of us know and respect, bless him and may he live for a thousand years. Very generous of you to share that brass charmer with the world. I defy anyone to show a prior photo of one. You are one in a billion ITE. Uh huh. Yes you are. Mr. generous. Thank you for sharing. WOW!:thumbup:
Some terrific folders photographed with TLC gentlemen. As if the Smithsonian had a forum branch. Well done.
Two Classics, pawn shop finds (one engraved and one not, sheaths acquired with but not shown) and one 111 with Idaho tang stamp on a snowy Winter's day in my neck of the woods:
Bufflehead, diving in 6' of water (shot during the "golden hour" just before sundown day before yesterday), never seen what they get, must eat it before they surface:
While we are on the topic of 111's. Here is an old question now answered. These sheaths have popped up occasionally but did not know the meaning of the '449'. Per correspondence with Joe Houser the answer is IBEW Local 449 in Pocatello Idaho. They appear on the 2005 SP list as B111-SP3 with a quantity of 700. I have 2 empty sheaths but given the 700 number is relatively large, it's a wonder I've never seen one with the knife in it.
DeSotoSky, I picked up two off the bay and tried to figure what 449 was. My question was answered on the forum. I found the sheaths too small for a 110 but work good for a 112.
Wow the brass 111 "ITE your the man" , makes me wonder if they struck the brass
ones first because of the way the tooling looks on that knife even the script Buck
on the pommel looks very clean .
