Beautiful! Had a chance to bid on three different classic models at an estate auction a few weeks back but other Bucks came up first and I was broke by the time the classics came up. Still on my short list though. Were they ever offered in brass or maybe gold tinted aluminum?

Here you go Bad... There was some made in brass...

The first time I saw a brass 111 was about 20 years ago at the old plant in El Cajon. When I asked around, I was told that they made about 20 of the brass 111's. Why? because the company that was stamping out the aluminum ones told us that aluminum is really tough on dies. We could get a lot more parts off the dies if we made them out of brass. They sent us samples, they weighed a tad more than the aluminum ones, we passed on the idea. All standard parts were used as far as the blade, rocker and spring holder go.
Oh, and they also made some of the 515 in brass!!!
I've never seen one of them but heard there were less of them than the 111 brass.
So 5 of the 111's were made, or 20. In either case, thats not very many right?
It figures that ITE would find one!

Haebbie, you have a nice set of classics... Thanks for sharing... ITE ...

Here is a "Classic" to watch for, the "Gent Classic". Notice the engraving (actually coined) pattern and no rivits. Looks just like a sterling but the overlay is actually aluminum. A real sterling will have the hallmark on the edge also. I found it listed on the 1998 Special projects list but this one is dated 2006.

I know everyone probably got their fill of seeing the Paradigm Pro that went with me on my last backpacking trip. I gave that one to a friend, but had this one NIB at home and wanted to talk about it for a minute. There is a learning curve with a Paradigm Pro when you first start using one. Heck, it took me a while to figure out how to open the dang thing when I bought my first one. Well, I carried that Paradigm Pro exclusively for two months.

I put a Vantage in my pocket when I got back home. I used to really enjoy carrying a Vantage, but found I constantly tried opening it like a Paradigm Pro.

Anyway, the whole point of all this writing is that even though I would never have believed it three months ago before I EDC'd the Paradigm Pro, I MUCH prefer it to a Vantage Pro now.

This one's going into my EDC pile. :)

This week's wildlife picture is of a moose I came across. He was swimming when I first saw him. These were taken in the Maine wilderness.

I usually run across seven to ten moose a year when I'm backpacking.

ITE....thanks for another SPS!!! I ALWAYS look forward to the SPS's!!! :)

Here is another Classic, perhaps not by name but by design. I don't believe any pictures have been shown yet of the 2012 Boone & Crockett Kalinga so here you are. This knife is flawless in finish and comes with a nice sheath. Notice the snap button on the sheath, I've not seen that before. The sheath is a bit of a tight fit and does not have a plastic liner so you need to be very careful when inserting that pointy upswept blade. I kinda wish Buck had been more consistent across the line with the B&C pattern. The 118, 120 and 121 for example have phenolic handles, the Alpha series has nice checkered walnut grips and the Kalinga is different yet again. Individually they are all nice but as a set they don't fit together.

Hi All,

Fantastic start for today's SPS, all of the knives posted thus far are classic's IMHO, because they are all Buck knives (new or old)! Thank you Armand for keeping this show running each week for our enjoyment:thumbup:.

Today I'll add a little classic Buck gold to the show.

So the brass 111 exists in the real world and not just in legend. Armand!

Leroy hasn't performed his magic act on it yet I guess. How bad can it be? I would leave it as found unless there was an overwhelming reason not to.

Another vote for full disclosure.

Thank you ITE for the excitement, wonder & joy.

These knives are not classic collectibles, but are my most recent Buck purchases. I have never been one to seek out anything made in China when I could get it made in the USA, but I recently read on a thread in the forum somewhere's about WalMart and Buck knives. There were no 119's left at the local WM, so I opted to get this set of Chinese made Bucks. I think they are well made, appealing to the eye and can attest to out of the package sharpness. The sheepsfoot blade got me when I went to close it after taking the photos. Will I go for more, probably not, but these were decent. I will go for the USA made 300s in the future.

Is that a brass 111 hiding there??

I finished my first 110 replacement blade in 154 cm this morning. This is my most common carry knife :)

Here is an old picture that some of you may have seen before. These are a couple of my favorites because of the history of the 110. These are two of the first ones and were born 48 years ago. I feel very fortunate to have the original 1 1/4 inch high boxes, pouch sheaths and warranty papers with these two....you know, just in case I need warranty work done. :)
