The Sunday Picture Show... (10-25-2015)

And here is my other favorite Buck Kalinga. Also from the old custom shop but this one has ivory handles. Nice clear scales and some of the whitest ivory I have ever seen. Definitely ivory, you can see the grain in the ends.

Thanks ITE for another Greatest Show. This week I received my 7th Vantage in the mail. I picked all of them off the bay. I have one 340, two 345's, one 346 with BOS blade, two 845's and one 846 with BOS blade (my latest).

I believe the mostly white ivory scales where mastodon.
The ivory like the one I showed in post #15 in this thread is mammoth ivory.
That's the way I remember my research on it from quite a while ago.

(I have made mistakes before though) :)

Ahh. Thank you Mark (Stumps) for your insight. That is the reason I come to Bladeforums. Is to learn from the Masters and to see all the great Buck Knives that are out there.

Thank you to all who posted.

Thanks for sharing on the SPS... ITE

Great pictures everyone.

The last one for me today is a trio of burgundy micarta Buck Kalinga's. The burgundy micarta varies in coloration from deep redish burgundy to almost black.

The one on the right has real nice burgundy color and is dead mint including the box, sheath and paperwork. All are NIB and complete. It's hard to take pictures of these without having quite a bit of glare.

Great show everyone. What a great bunch of knives this week. Absolutely fantastic.

I really like the Kalinga's. It is one of my personal favorites.

Here is one of my favorite Buck Kalinga's in my collection. It is from the old custom shop with Ironwood handles and damascus blade.

Wow, what an awesome Sunday picture show you Buck nuts have going today, I do see a 401 theme running through the show! Thank you Brother Armand, you are like a Timex watch as we can always count on you to have the GSOE ready for us to start our Sunday with a smile:thumbup:

Here is some of a 401's to add to the theme

The one in the front is a new arrival, sorry for the reflections in the bolsters. (Thanks Mark)

Discontinued style. I knew that I should have bought more of the folders.
The top one I had found in a gun shop that did not sell a lot of knives, he had taken it in a trade and was trying to make his money back that he had in it. I almost ripped my back pocket off trying to get my wallet out when I told him that I would take it. HL

Thanks Tony - many stops, few nice knives - but worth the looking when you do find one. OH

Good show as usual! I'll be seeing similar colors to what Stumps posted in a couple of days and can't wait to cross over into TN! I'm going home for vacation and to celebrate baby sis's 50th BD and here if I understand right is a knife coming up on the same...
