The Sunday Picture Show... (11-13-2011)

ITE, I really like the second 110 from the left! Tell us something about that one please.

Here's my first one for today. A CF Vantage.

Very nice! Custom job or factory Dave?

Tony, So thats what they look like. Thanks, I'll keep my eyes peeled. Skyhorse, I see why the bathroom remodel got side tracked. HK & Dave, I like your 124s and Nemos. Nice, knives gentleman. DM

Nice knives as usual guys. I'd like to share my friday/saturday project, a hybrid of a 110, a 560, and a 172CF. I think I might have to start another one today!

Hi All,

Very nice knives one and all!

I'd like to jack the SPS just a bit and hope Armand and everyone else is ok with that;). I got this knife from our BCCI member Bruce D to send out for some custom work.
I have a set of thick E Ivory slabs to replace the wood scales with....the question is "do I leave the rear bolsters on or make it a bare butt?" Please comment one and all!

My vote's for bare butt.

Here is a novelty advertising knife from my collection along with a little eye candy to liven up the picture. A 345 Vantage. I think it's a very attractive knife with the cherrywood and the black blade.

So that's where the cherrywood scales came from that they made all those web specials Buildouts from. Cool looking with the black blade.

BTW, I love the Ruger Old Army. I had one years ago and sold it, an action that I regret to this day!

Here's a shot of a piece of Shedua wood.....I really like this wood...in just one piece there are sections that look totally different.....
don't worry... this poor little 112 will be alright after a while...:D

I'm pretty fond of 110's with no handle rivets so I thought I'd show a few of the ones I have.

Here's the Empress Trio set I picked up last week. They were completely dull when I got them. The smallest is close to shaving sharp, the middle one will at least slice paper now and the largest is still waiting it's turn. I like the set a lot just on looks alone, can't wait until they are all ready to go to work.

I'm in a photo taking mood today, so I'll add a few shots.

First up is a Buck 301 Stockman. I have to admit, it still isn't one of my favorites, but it works well, and I'm pretty impressed by Buck's 420HC. As always, my main complaint is the thickness of the edges as they came from the factory, and you might be able to see where I really thinned out the sheepfoot blade. The clip blade wasn't as bad, and I just left the spey blade as is. It works as a scraper blade when I don't want to mess up the other two.

Next up is the Holiday Tin 110 that I picked up about 6 years ago. It's laying on top of a H&R 12 ga. that my dad gave me. I've never shot the gun, as I always had a pump gun of some sort, but maybe I'll give it a try one of these days. This 110 is my favorite Buck, though I think I need to send it in to see if they can fix the bit of side to side play that has developed in it.

Lastly is my Buck 501 Squire. I love the design, and it is the perfect size and shape for me. It's also one of the sharpest knives I own, and it's easy to keep that way. It just has a couple of technical issues keeping it from the #1 spot right now.

It's funny, but I feel like I've come full circle as far as what knives I prefer. My first EDC was a Schrade SP3, and it had a similar profile to the 501. I just wish I hadn't spent so much time and money trying to figure this out.:foot:

Yes and they are both very nice. Mine with the engraved bolsters like yours has the Idaho date stamp, the other one has no date stamp at all.
The engraved models have a "serial" number on them, the plain version doesn't.

Thanks for showing your couple, Plumber. Interesting that your engraved 111 has the idaho stamp,
and the one I have not. That's three different finals ;-)) if you add the plain one too.

I dug out my second one and guess what. It's the same as yours with no date stamp. Mine are numbered 378 0f 750 (the one with no date stamp) and 634 of 750 (the one with the Idaho stamp).

Also, one of mine came with a black sheath, the other with a brown one.
