ITE, I love those factory clear and tinted Bucklites!

I keep this one (imitation) on my table next to my computer for opening the mail...

Just like this picture of some Bucks ...

:)

Where's the bullet proof glass/teardrop Damascus one?? That's still my favorite translucent/clear handled Buck I've ever seen. It would have really dressed up this photo!! :)

Very funny and very true although there were delux and regular versions of the Camp and Field sets I don't think that there were color variations.

Mark, I would really enjoy, and I think that others would as well, seeing a long shot of your photographic set-up/studio (background, lights, that sort of thing). The inner sanctum. BTW, how much trouble is it to shower with cutler displayed everywhere in the stall? :) :) (Is he smiling? Let me know...)

I kinda hate to show this because I used to have a much more elaborate setup…but this works better for me. My previous setup was fashioned after Craig's lightbox, but I didn't build it right and always had trouble with the framework of the box showing up in the bolsters. I have been using this setup for quite a while now. One of the main things I've been wanted to do is change out the tile. This tile shows reflections of light. I am looking for nearly the same color tile, only in a stone type non reflective tile with imperfections.

I still have to adjust the light on my photos after I download them even with as much light as I have pointed at the knife I am photographing.

By the way….the subject knife in these photos is a two liner Buck 102. :)

Stumps,

First try spraying them with satin polyurethane, may take a couple coats it may knock off some reflection. Or find someone to sandblast them quickly. You might test a belt sander also. That's why I talked about mouldable erasers and the blue sticky puddy teachers put up wall posters with. You can mould a ball of the stuff and angle the knife to the best camera reflection. You keep the ball hidden on the backside of the knife. You may have to have some white cardboard on top to gain that white reflection.

Stumps, Sunday photos and photo talk.

Here is photo of current BCCI youth auction knife, I have it held at an angle with a small triangle piece of rubber eraser. It is hidden behind the sawblade.

Same here, used a piece of white rubber eraser to hold up this Model 55 Bone scale I treated with orange Rit dye. Didn't get much effect, likely did not leave it in long enough or have dye hot enough. The original photo showed the eraser showing at the top of the knife just right of the front bolster and I photoshoped it out. Another story. But, I could have taken more time and got my box of eraser triangles out and used a smaller one or used some puddy and would not have had to Photoshop. I also would have liked to reduce the angle as much as possible while managing the reflections. If your brave enough, grind out your plexi holder groove and use the puddy to adjust the reflection angle between the back of the blade and the hidden edge of the plexi groove.

Photo of Vantage that did get a decent dye job. From thread on subject.

Mark, thank you kindly for pulling back the curtain on the wizard that constantly works magic with photography of our heart's desire. You go to great length to dazzle and you have my admiration and, if the forum had audio, you would hear my applause. Educational.

Hi All,

Fantastic Sunday show as always folks, sorry for the lack of my participation the last few weeks. I have been working many days/hours and have not been home when there is good photo taking light outside. Now that Stumps & Craig have posted some new photo taking info I may try that one of these days if time permits (thanks guys). I do have some stuff that needs it's picture taken.

I'll add an old photo of some Alpha's

Hello everyone, and thank you Armand for another SPS and for sharing that beautiful 184. I'd sure like to take a peek in your bag of tricks. :)

Mark, I knew you would have one and I knew it would be mint with box and all. :) Great photo set up. So that's how you do it!

2TonyB, I love that 110 BG42. But then again I love all BG42. Great knife!

So many great Bucks and not enough time to mention them all. Thanks to all.

My little contribution is this 110 Orange Wood with . . . BG42.

On a side note, please remember my mother-in-law in your prayers. A chimney fire caused her to lose her home.
