what a going on with your recoil rod? from the last pic appears it's in the way of the barrel and that cant be right? or is there something else going on with it?
That does look weird, doesn't it. I assure you it works fine. In that position, that is as close as the guide rod gets to the barrel. They never touch. When released, it becomes horizontal to the barrel almost immediately.

Great knives everyone. Thank you to all for showing us your Buck treasures.
Over in another Buck thread they were talking about an extra long 124 being something they wished Buck would make again.
Here is a 124 you don't see very often with a blade about 1-1/2" longer than a standard 124.

Technically not a 124 the 10 point Bowie knife made for Franklin Mint and only a few were made. James your's is only the third one I have ever seen, 334Dave had one he sent to Joe Houser who took the handle off and put a red colored wood one on it (my memory is slipping see link to old thread and read daves post #9). I have the second one and there is a thread or two about them. Buck gave these a model number of their very own 902, the deer head looks like a door knocker to me.

JB - Are you saying my knife is hideous. LOL.
I see it more as an oddity and a conversation piece in the Buck Knife collection. That handle is typical Franklin Mint.
Came with a cheesy green felt backed open faced wall display as well.
Thanks for your information which is spot on from what I have been told as well but never knew Buck gave it it's own model number.
Where did you find the model number information (902) for that knife?

Camillus/Buck 301 Stockman with Colonel Coon blade. Tennessee Knife Works (c.1978-1988) sourced parts from both Camillus and Colonial. The knife is either a Camillus employee's idea of a joke or the blade accidentally found its way into the wrong bin. SMKW acquired/registered the defunct Colonel Coon trademark in 2006.

This pair followed me home from the knife show today. Both are V4-1 c.70-72. Both will clean up well. The top knife is ANIB, the lower knife is lightly used with wonderful wood. Notice the huge difference in the blade rivets. I wonder if the lower rivet just mushroomed out more near the surface, I would expect the blade holes to be the same.

The knife can be found listed on the 1999 Special Projects List with a build quantity of 1,000. (4th from the list end) I assume that number is an error which means I'll never own one if only a few were made. /Roger

Out of curiosity, are the saw's covered by the SPA and forever warranty?

The saw is much better than it looks, I expect some naval jelly or one of the tool rust removers would spiff it right up. It is discolored but not pitted. Warranty?... you would probably end up being offered one of the ChinaBuck folding saws... :(

Thanks for the photos of the 102s as well as all the others here.
Hey, will some one post more photos of 102s and tell me which steel you prefer ?
I have a basic black with 5160 steel on the way, my first 102, and need some company until it arrives tomorrow.
Thanks

PS : my first knife in 5160 to; what do you think of it.

Thanks BuckShack.
Looks like mine is delayed another day for some reason.
