One of my most recent aquisitions is this 110 done by Santa Fe Stoneworks. It's one of a series of four I believe and this one is called the "Sacred Eagle". Three things attracted me to the series and this one in particular. I love polished blades, the Idaho date stamp and the Native American theme, this one has them all.

My contribution to this week's SPS is one with before and after pictures....a not very sharp 3 dot 110 I cleaned up that is now VERY sharp. :)

A BIG thank you to ITE for getting this SPS started each week and again to 300Bucks who has some older threads on better picture taking. Here's one;
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/sh...ht=photography (I built a white box this week and I think it has helped a lot)

One more for this week. These are very handy knives for working around the house. I sharpened about 3/4 inch on the top of the blade on the one that I actually use so I can push cut also....an old trick I used at work when I had to push cut spline when rolling in new screen.

Stumps, beautiful job you did on the 110. Maybe you should open your own spa!

Your picture quality is really great.

Stumps, Good pic job. Think about using less 'busy' background. I go once a year or so and check out the local fabric shop. They ususally have a remnants bin with neutral, leather like or lightly textured, fuzzy surfaced material that makes good backgrounds. No reflective stuff is better. Guys that recover car seats can have some leftovers also.

Tip number two, for everyone. Watch for cheap yard sale mirror(s) to make light reflectors with. Something thin, not too large. You can have it cut into horizontal piece, not too tall (I have two, one 5 high X 12 long and one 9 X 12), and just hot glue some foam board wedges to prop it up just shy of vertical.
I can show example if needed. This can be used out of camera view to reflect available light into a darken area. I use one under my camera to fill in light on the bottom front edge.... 300

Examples

Here is natural photo of my duck hunting lifejacket knife, model 731 (stepped on in boat) under white box conditions, no mirror.

Here is same photo with mirror, note very slight difference in the lighter front where the metal slots are on the knife and the bottom of the shotgun shell ( I will try to glue but hope is small). Don't fret,I carry a small waterproof flashlight in my coat and a headlamp.

Here are my latest Bucks which also happen to be my first orders from the Buck Custom Shop. The first is a finger grooved 110 with Indigo scales, nickle bolsters and a partially serrated, satin finish S30v blade. I intend to carry this one and since I cut a lot of banding at work I wanted to try out the serrations and see how they preform.

This one is a 110 with jigged water buffalo scales, nickle bolsters and black oxide coated 420HC blade. Really like the way the JWB feels in the hand. For the blade I just wanted something different and I'm pretty pleased with the results.

Hammer, The routed Water Buffalo handles have been my favorite for sometime. 300, thanks for the tips. Heath nice work. Stumps, you did a good job on your 3 dot and those 811,812 and 813's are highly collectable. Plumber, a handsome 110. ITE & Plumber, are you guys sure those stag 4 dots are Not from the Custom Shop? It crossed my mind, they could be. Very handsome 110's. DM

ITE and Dave, NICE stag:thumbup:
Stumps...nice re-furb on the 3 dot:thumbup:
Bad ... I love that jigged water buffalo 110:thumbup:

This weeks re-furbs came as a package deal... The 1988 112 was pretty beat up and had a 2-1/4 inch blade! So I cleaned it up a bit and put in a brand new 2011 blade...:)
The Segua 112 was the one that caught my eye...I wasn't really looking for another one....but there it was...What's a man to do...?

A lot of nice pictures today but I tell you Stumps I'm really liking your pics a lot. Don't know if it's the minimalist aspect or the lighting or what but your photos today really are nice. Between you, Plumberdv and 300Bucks I feel like I need to take some photography classes.

This is a 1962 Buck 105 barrel nut model, I procured from one of our collectors Hugh Riddle at the past Las Cruces Show where I displayed.

Is there anybody who hunts with a bow? Than you know what happens when you pass the target.
The arrow hides below the grasward. and you searcht it with a stick or anything else. I always took
another arrow or the backside of my knife. But why not with a piece of antler? That's strong enough
and doesn't damage your arrow. That was my thought when I made the shown knife. I'm sorry,
it's not a Buck blade. I took one Solingen blade from an old scouts knife.

Best,
Herbert

Here is the second new arrival this week. I have been wanting a Kalinga for years and finally won one. The seller listed it as not having any paper work. But I found the paper work under the tray insert.

Stumps, great cleanup job. It is very rewarding to see your work when you finish a knife. It is like bringing it back to life.

Nut, You have the Akonua as well. A great design! Buck began using that wood on those models in 82. Nice find. DM
