The Sunday Picture Show... (12-06-2015)

Jb4570, while I have seen your "D-day" Vanguard before I just realized it appear to be full height grind. Is that correct or do my eyes deceive me?

Found this while fishing in the bay.actually was in my mail box today. I forgot I won the bid it was a few weeks back
I believe it is elderwood burl.
Was a good find. No box and the seller shipped in a padded envelope luckily on minor damage to the display case.

Great show as usual and thanks to all for posting such great pictures for all of us to enjoy.

Here is a few of my special vanguards.

Hi K,

No it's just the light on the MP blade giving it that look in the photo

Also, Buck sell the plastic stands in their catalog, single, 3 knife and 5 knife stands!

Ok thanks I see it now. I guess I need to get my catalogs back out. I haven't looked at them in awhile.

You guys are making me drool. I must say JB that the Timberlake 192 is on my want list if I can ever find one reasonably priced. Very nice.

Here are a couple more Buck Vanguards and one of their cousins the 191 Zipper.

Thanks for the link.

Also man there are some lookers in here,

Another really neat Vanguard from my collection. Dolphin in a Wave cutout, Nickel Silver hardware and a green Dymondwood handle. Top it all off with WBC's initials stamped on the choil for a very special knife. The dolphin is fixed only by the tip of the dorsal and tail fins. The nose does not touch. The blade grind is different, I call it a Vanguard but it is more like a 921 or 923 Skinner on a Vanguard handle.

Have no Vanguards, so here is a intermission. A 124 re-done, bareback, Bloodwood with brass pins and an added lanyard hole.

Closest thing I have to a vanguard. A Zipper

These didn't come out as glowing as the 2 above...

It's pouring down rain here so the picture is from inside.
Cabela's "Tracks " series Vanguard. My favorite part of this knife is the elk track on the bolster.

DeSotoSky my daughter in law would LOVE this knife she is into Buck knives and dolphins.

691 Zipper and 692 Vanguard from my collection that you don't see to often with blue marbled handles. It was a special project for "SMU", I'm uncertain who SMU is, Smoky Mountain is a thought but the "U" is throwing me. any ideas? There were other knives in the series.

I have one standard wooden handled Vanguard, given to me a long while back by Hawkeye. I have used it on one cow elk and two WT does. BUT, I really covet more than even Gedlicks WBC Vanguards, is jb's pistol...sweet. I guess I am an old phart, as I like 300s and revolvers...ha

If you get the big Buck knife stands, consider that there is space to 'carefully' cut an additional notch to display four knives instead of just three. It depends on the knives.
