The Sunday Picture Show... (12-16-2012)

ITE hi yes My friend dustin collects bucks has done for many years. I recently bought quite a few 110s of her.
She did tell me the info on the 112 but i deleted the mail.
Once i find out il let you know :)

Need to go back in my picture history with a picture of a knife I bought because of an email I got after an unsuccessful bid on the bay. It is something that the folks on the bay said not to do. They hide your name now so that stopped this activity. One fine well built knife!

Here are a couple of Bucklite 444's that I got off of Ebay this past week. They actually came with two of the worst edges I've ever seen from Buck, but some time spent with sandpaper and diamond stones got them into hair popping shape.

I actually owned a grey 444 that I ended up selling off. These two feel much more solid compared to that one. The grey handled one felt much "softer" than these two, and there was a lot more flex in the handle. These 444's however, will be spending quite a bit of time riding around in my pockets.

Thanks ITE for your efforts here on the SPS , Here is the Buck 121 Fisherman made for the BCCI 2012-12-14 18.00.15.jpg2012-12-14 18.11.59 HDR.jpg2012-12-14 18.06.23.jpg

Edbeau, nice picture...

JT, cool picture... I like the coins...

Stunt, cool 444s...

JB, hope to see you here next week...

Thanks for sharing everyone... Great knives and pics... Keep them coming... ITE ...

ITE this 121 is a little different that the five knives you saw, it does not have the fish scaler and the stamp on the blade is a old horizontal custom stamp.

Nice show so far!!!
Love that pre production 104 HK

This Duke had a rough life before it came to me. Thankfully the Guys in the repair shop put a new blade in it for me and gave it a buff
It came back nice enough to get treated to some Elk scales...The curves of the two scales give it a rather "ergo" feel in hand.

Thanks Sitflyer. I really like the 500. Here are a pair of 117s. One with a clip blade and one with a Sheepfoot. I have seen 2 other with the clip blade, but this is the only one I've seen with the Sheepfoot blade. I had the clip point cleaned, but not the other. Undecided about it.

Thank You HK, and thanks also for sharing those 117's
Pretty cool that the first 3 digits of your BCCI # match them!
To clean or not to clean, that is a big question...there is some rare history in those two knives.

Ya, try picking one of those up for cheap:rolleyes: I think I've only seen one at auction in a half dozen years

Matt is correct.

I have to be honest, in the past I seldom talked here about these because I didn't want to sow anymore bidders in the field just in case one of them would turn up for sale.....selfish of me wasn't it. But, currently there are enough folks that want them , like Matt, I will likely be out-gunned anyway.

These model 117 Buck single bladed folding knives were the first folding knife attributed to Buck 'culture'. You first have to understand that these were not 'made' by Buck but were surplus lifeboat knives he altered the blades on. Jerry and I have both scratched our heads on the one with sheepsfoot blade stamped Buck and 117 as it looks just like the original carbon steel blade that was in the original steel life boat knives. Perhaps Buck heat treated it or polished up the knife before selling. He would buy them in surplus sales from the Naval base in San Diego, CA much like he would the old files. Its likely fewer than 100 were ever made. I have only seen four and Jerry, Joe Houser and Larry Oden are the only people I know that have one. The three that have sold in my lifetime went for multi-hundreds of dollars. I have given up on ever getting one for the collection as I can't justify that much money on one knife when it would buy several others that I also need. BE CAREFUL of fakes on these, I am serious.

I remember an auction about a year ago for one of these, it never showed up again, and often wondered where that one went to. I feel lucky just to be able to see pictures of such things...
