Thank You both for showing me what I was constantly missing, the spacers next to the phenolic handle.

Bozhidar47 - I am happy for you that everything turned out with the "rogue rivet" and you did send it in to Buck. Now you have a knife that is right.

Here is a pair of carbon fiber handled knives from 2000. Both have ATS-34 blades.

My first BUCK I got for a backpacking trip last November to Devils Den Arkansas. I love it definitely won't be my only BUCK!

Well, does that muddy the waters, or what?:p
Didn't Buck have some early 100s with leather spacers also? Preston

First year production (1961) 100 series knives had leather spacers.
I have a few pre factory 1950's knives with leather spacers also.
Yeah.... I know... pictures.... I'll head to the basement and see what I can find.

Great stuff everyone! ITE, thanks for doing this every week! It gives me something to look forward to seeing on sundays!
Those early 5 spacer 100s are great. 5 spacers is not a characteristic you see described on any dating information I've seen.

Steelheadbully; is there any Buck you don't have in ivory? Gorgeous stuff!

I have a 403 Big Sky this week thanks to a friend.
I know this model got a bad rap because of the Spring clip on the sheath, but I kinda like it personally.

Buck model 118 Personals with leather spacers. The top knife is a first year factory production barrel nut. The lower knife is a 1950's stag handle.
