The Sunday Picture Show... (2-6-2011)

Hi guys & Gals,

Another very nice SPS today. Sorry I missed last weeks show to much family stuff going on. That said I'll post two knives for todays show.

The knives are gold etch blades, love art work on a knife blade or handle! Ok here is some info on these. In 1984 buck issued the "Mastadons" 110, the handle is from Mastadon Ivory, 250 of these were made. Next up, in 1988 Buck issued the "Crouching Couger at Mtn pond", Ebony handle, 250 of these were made.

Now both of these knives are hard to find and many folks are looking for them for their collections(I have been looking for these two for years). Brother Armand was looking to get the Mastadon knife and let me know he was going to pass on it, he said the handle looked to have a few stains and he wanted a better knife for his collection....good for me as I now have the knife.

Next was the couger, I have only seen this knife come up on ebay 3 times in the last 6 years. About a month ago one of these came up and I was out bid by $5....:(. Then about 2 weeks ago another shows up and I was able to get it for 1/2 the cost of the one I was out bid on.....some times it just works out that way!

Love the show. Didnt get the knife I was expecting by Friday so I took some new one of old ones. Turns out I picked right as the 531 seems to be a theme. 300-I never get tirede of seeing that pic:D

Wow John, they both look sweet... That Mastadon is Beautiful... That guy wouldn't send me any better pics of the handles... They look good to me... That Couger 110 I've been wanting one for some time too... I hope to get one of each someday... :) ... I bet they look good in your Collection... ITE

Another great SPS...enjoyed Plumberdv's other thread with his scrimshaw from Leesa, thus my 2 helpers down from Alaska, fossilized sea cow rib.
I had no idea Buck still produced the 181, but here's 1 w/ a 2010 tang stamp and paperstone handle.

I'll add these 2 639 variations from the Custom Shop since I took a pic

To go along with ITE's opening knife, here's an old picture of one of my 531 Sawby's. I have the 535 also, I just have to locate the picture or take a new one. Below this picture is a one page, glossy flier that I assume was sent to dealers in '88 or late '87 to announce their introduction.

Dave, nice MIB 531 Saeby's....

Here's some more Bucklocks. The BCCI model Sawby 531 is the top knife in the picture.

Dave, these are all sweet 531s... I would love to have anyone of them...

Thanks for sharing on the SPS... ITE ...:thumbup::thumbup:

Great knives all, a real great showing again! I have two knives I just got this week for my Sunday show. The are the recently discontinued Gen5 Bel Air and the new 113 in Stag by Arksknives, who did a fine job I must say. Both feel really nice in the hand, good little knives:thumbup:
