Wow, what a great show. Thank you Armand for doing this wonderful thing you call the SPS for all to enjoy "Happy Father's Day" to you sir! A heartfelt thanks to all of you posters and viewers of these GSOE Sunday's.

I don't have any C/A knives,although I do have Buck-Cote 110 to display.The color appears to be more of a charcoal than black.It's also only sharpened on one side.

View attachment 722104 Here is a picture of an AG blade in a 560 handle and a charcoal Ion Fusion blade in a jigged bone handle. The coating on the AG blade is TDLC (Tungsten Diamond Like Carbon). This a fancy name for Tungsten Carbide (WC) which has an HRC (Hardness Rockwell C scale) of 72.
The coating on the Buck Cote blade is TiAlN (Titanium Aluminum Nitride). It Rockwells at 92. The WC is blacker, softer, and shinier than the TiAlN. The difference in gloss may be due to the degree of polish on the underlying blade. The AG blade is double beveled. The Buck Cote blade is chisel sharpened to expose the hard coating on the micro edge. The sides of both of these blades can be use like a finishing steel to touch up the micro edges of steel blades at 60 or so HRC.
