The Sunday Picture Show... (7-12-2020) . . . (OLD Show Look at the DATE...)

View attachment 1376688 View attachment 1376689 The 186 is easy to distinguish from the 560 because of the screws. The 560 came in 2 versions. The first was thick (1/2") with a stepped edge, the second was thin (7/16") with chamfered edges. The last picture shows a 560 that was riveted but had the holes counter bored to accept #5X40TPI cap screws and also a 186 with the belt clip removed.View attachment 1376690

Thanks Preston, I'm not seeing the photo unless I click on the image. That photobucket ripoff group again, I have two accounts and pay $8 per account per month and this is the service I get. Last time this happened in a few days the images just started showing up. Sorry guys.

Great stuff John, as usual. Thanks for re-posting.

I would have thought the prototype was made by Charles Finn of QUAL-A-TEC (?). Thought it was his design.
Wonderful knife regardless of my lack of knowledge, thanks for showing.
I can only parrot what Leroy and Dick Matheny had to say about it.
I'm fairly certain the Finn / Phrobis prototypes were earlier in the process than the ones LR made. LR explained that me he made these as conceptual with Finn and other's input prior to Ti production.
All makes sense to me as you wouldn't want to take drawings right to production without first proving the concept.

Regardless, here are a couple of others that LR put together as sales samples.
Purple TiCN coated head to toe, first gen with damascus, and a 2nd gen crystal with damascus.

:)

Two more Union Pacific knives for the show. The first has already been shown twice but wanted to share how I acquired it. A former member (rip) of my knife club worked for the Union Pacific and used his safety award points to obtain the knife the year her retired, 1995. The second is a rarely seen 525 Gent, gold on sterling silver, same logo in reverse.
