A Buck 117mastodon. Since the 117 is closely associated with the U.S. Coast Guard, Joshua James( a man who was probably the most notable legendary figure, he started with the Coast Guard as a very young man and literally died on the job at 75.) On the other side a Coast Guard related boat (One from about the era when the knife was rebladed , This is CG-83306, photographed in 1944, she was lost off Okinawa in 1945. 7670ED7D-8ADD-4A1E-A7F8-D2269BE27FCE.jpeg

Here is a new exclusive 112 from SMKW that showed up in my mail box last week. Green micarta handle on brass. I really like it. There was a matching 110 previously I passed on because of the blade etch but now wish I had not. I like matching pairs.

There was a knife show this weekend, I reluctantly broke quarantine, stuck a bottle of hand sanitizer in my pocket, put on a mask and went. Disappointing how many others did not mask. Here is the "best buy" of the day. The clip strikes me as a bit more pronounced than usual, I'll have to find one of my others to compare.

The 2009 Special Projects list shows that 2,500 301 B&C green paperstone sets were produced. The same list also shows a matching 303/309 Combo set, same quantity, 2,500. Where are they? I see the 301 frequently but have never seen the 303/309 combo set. Makes me wonder if 2,500 were actually made. I know 300bucks has one so they do exist.

I used to see them regularly 5 years or so ago when surfing the bay looking for B&C stuff. I have that same 301 . Is should have picked up the set too but i am not really into the smaller knives. Had I known the B&C stuff was going away i would have done so.
