Good morning. I agree with everyone who has already posted theirs, this latest BCCI offering was a surprise with the FG's, but is a really really nice 119.

I was also surprised at the size and weight of this.

Thanks Armand for getting another SPS up and off to a good start.:thumbup::thumbup:

I am still not settled in after my trip, so more old Buck knife photos.

Here are two long discontinued Buck knives….a 531 and a 535.
The stag makes these two extra special!

My wildlife photos this week are of a grizzly that I didn't get too close to when I was out west last month. :)
Seems an elk was brought down by wolves, then the large grizzly took over the carcass.
A smaller grizzly came along wanting to eat, but every time he would start getting close the larger grizzly faced him and flexed his dominance and displeasure of the smaller one being near.

You can just make out the ears of the smaller grizzly waiting patiently in the grass in this photo below.

I got to watch the large grizzly covering up the elk carcass with dirt.

I was glad I wasn't camping near there. :)

Stumps, these are fantastic photos. Thank you.
Haebbie, what was the coating Buck used on their 651? DM

David, the blades are not coated. The silver colored blade is bead bleasted, the black one is brownished.

One more Buck Knives photo from my archives today.
You don't see many of these.

And some river photos I took last month.

Mark, I agree with David! Those are amazing wildlife photos! Great looking stag too! ;) Hope you get better and back to your old self soon.

David, this 651 according to the literature that came with it is black oxide coated on the blade. For the life of me I don't know why I bought it because it fits no where in my collection, but is too nice to be a user. It's just sat boxed up since I got it.

Last year while visiting Costa Rica, My wife and I were witness to a sea turtle hatch, dozens of these little ones crawled their way into the surf as a group of us were enjoying the sunset.

What's the difference between black oxyde and brownishing? As I know there is principally no difference - but what do I know. What I know: It is not a coating. Both are using an oxidation process in the surface of the blade. If you wear off the surface of your blade, you loose the color. Both variations have a lot more wear resistance than every method of coating.

So a Fellow Buck Collector really wanted my 935 in Ivory, can you blame him.....I've made it clear I do not see it going anywhere anytime soon....then he asks me if a 903 in pearl would get the 935..... and my response is, Close, but still not going anywhere, by the way, I have to have that 903 in pearl:D:D

We had already come to a deal trading a 110 for a 112.....so when all was said and done, I got rid of this.....:(:(:(:(

And This....

And the choice of one of these:eek::eek: He chose the bottom one:D

And I got these 3:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::D:D

What side of the trade would you rather be on????????????????????????Hard choice I know!!!!!!!!!!

Double Red, White and Blue!!!Toby Keith would be proud:D:D

Stumps, Too bad about your trip being diverted by your health, Looks like you made the most of it:thumbup::thumbup: Hopefully you feel 100% soon and can start planning a trip back west to do a few of the things you couldn't do this time!! A few more pics of the West!!
Bear Lake in the Winds

And the stream between Faler and Clear lake in the Winds

Herbert that's interesting. If I understand you correctly "black oxide coating" is not a literal coating, but rather a process that simply changes the color of the steel? What is the purpose? As far as that goes, I see no reason for putting any coating on a good stainless blade.

The reason is to get the blade black (or dark brown). But Buck did the coating. For example: Buck put a powder coat on the blade of the black powdered 560 titanium handle. It is not to understand why Buck did it. The market wanted a black 560 ;) if you ask Joe H. about this nonsense, he may tell you that this is still distressing him.

Great show today everybody. What fantastic knives.

Here is a NIB Buck 560 XLTI.

A couple days ago I stepped outside to find god smiling down on me. So I took a picture of him. Than I saw the plane flying away.
