The Sunday Picture Show... (8-28-2011)

That's the battlewagon of the 110s, Casey!!!

:)

Did you get that from the golf guy?

I picked it up about a year ago. I don't recall from whom. Sorry.

I did just pick up a beater 3 dot. I think with some TLC/Spa treatment, it will make a fine knife. Not as fine as the one pictured, but nice nonetheless.

Here is the only 2 Line Buck fixed blade I own. I had to get it out and fondle it after viewing mbjannusch's lineup displayed last evening. It's a 119 and looks to be unused. If I read the forum correctly this knife would be about 1967 to 1971.
Note to ITE and Haebbie....get that brass polished!!!!

Your 119 is beautiful, and it dates '67 to '69 because it has bone hard fiber spacers. The two line stamp did date '67-'71 but in '69 Buck transitioned to micarta spacers...

Here a few 119s to add to yours 1961 barrel nut through 1973

This is a 428 Selector the double blade handle. I made a new blade for it and will install it as the permanent blade into this handle. Also, I want to make both blades locking (if your familiar with this model you know only one locked on this first Selector model). DM

Hi All,

Thanks for all of the very nice photos of your Buck knives posted in this weeks SPS. I like them all, fixed, slippys, large folders, & SO/LEs.

Here is this weeks set of display Duke 500's

Great knives everyone. JB, thanks for this weeks Dukes. I wasn't sure what could compare with last weeks, but these definately did. The bone scales with mosaic pins really caught my eye. BG, I love all Vanguards, but that burl handle is in a class apart. I love seing the vintage blades. I was tempted to bid on a two-dot I saw on the grand distraction site, but to be honest, I would probably bid too high, and then see one of those "check this out" threads pop up here.

Maybe I'll have to snap off a pictuture of one of my knives. You've seen them all before, but maybe it will encourage someone to dig out an old photo or two. I've only been here for a year, so if you've got a knife that hasn't been shown in a while, I wouldn't know the difference.

Hi CP,
Thanks for the kind words! The white handle is Mastadon Ivory with mosaic pins, it's a Buck issued LE from 2007, the Rammy star is the Buck LE from 2008, the Elk is the Buck LE from 2006.

I have been enjoying my first eddition 112's with Micarta handles so much that I started looking for a 110 in that style. Now Buck did not do a regular production run back in the 70's. But, one may have been a lunch box knife or a custom shop order, so i've been looking. I saw one while fishing the bay a few months back, older blade with 2 pin style...went for more thatn I was willing to pay. Then I found an older modle 4 dot, with canvas Micarta and it now has a new home. The Micarta seems to stand up to the test of time, as all of these older knives have been well used and are in good shape. So I decided to see if I could get one of the Green canvas Micarta handled knives the BCCI put out a year ago.....Score, Club Pres John still has a few.
Old 4 dot 110, black canvas Micarta & new green canvas Micarta 110 from 2010.

I guess it didn't take me very long to get a few pics to share with you. I just had take the camera to the work table and snap off a couple of pics of what was there.

I typically spend a few hours a week with my 301 in hand. I guess I like simple pleasures, but I find stick whittling relaxing, and I've got an overgrown plum tree that provides me with plenty of material. There's a pile of sticks in my shed waiting to be used.

If Buck ever makes a Whittling pattern, I'm buying one.

Of course, whenever I start dreaming about Bucks that I would like to see made I remember this guy:

DreamBuck.jpg

(I hope a little photo-snatching from the Buck site is ok)

Whenever I go to Buck's website I end up looking at one of these and my fingers start to itch... When the nickle bolsters disappeared for a few weeks I was kicking myself for not getting one while I had the chance, now that the nickle bolsters are back... One day... It will be mine.

Beautiful pics guys, some really great knives being shared.

Coyote, I've gone onto the buck website and made that same knife many times, I just wish I had the $$$.

Is that a fish spearing decoy taking shape there???

You guessed it, but I've never been spearfishing before. There was an activity common where I came from called carping, but it involves firearms, and you don't really need decoys for it.

I'll toss another couple of photos to keep things moving along. This knife isn't a Buck, but it is sure trying to be. I saw a bare blade for sale at a wood shop, and on a whim I decided to buy it. I had already cut some scales for it when I realized why the blade looked so familiar... It is a clone of a Mini-Alpha Hunter. I took a different approach to the handle though. For one thing I matched the edge of the scales with the tang of the knife. I also got rid of the palm rippers, or whatever the techincal term is for the notches on the back of the tang. Jimping maybe...

Here are photos of three Buck 110's in different Jades from British Colombia last week. Jade is a real challenge for using on such a large knife but it is one of my favorite stones to use.....

Could someone email me or PM me how to post full size photos? I haven't been able to figure out how since the Forum format changes. I figure it is time to ask. :o

Hi folks -

Another great SPS -

Here is my lone contribution for this weekend - I just picked this up at the JK Gathering yesterday, and I have been on the move all day today so I could not get any portrait shots.

Here is my new 055 - John said it is 1/2 of a 110 - I love it!

I am going to play with this post to see if I can post a full size photo of a Buck 110 with Graveyard Point Plume Agate scales.

Well that didn't work out but heck, here is another nice looking knife to click on.
