I have a nice old 112 with a leather cross draw. I have mostly modern tactical folders, but I love this old buck sometimes!

Good Sunday morning everyone!!

Thank you ITE for starting the SPS EVERY Sunday. I like your translucent Buck.:thumbup::thumbup:

A short story first about my knife for this Sunday;

I just returned home a few days ago and the knife I'm showing today was there waiting on me. It also has a translucent handle. It is what I believe to be a Group 2 pre-factory handmade Buck fillet knife from the mid 1940's. Probably hand made by either Hoyt or Al Buck.

One of the neatest things about this is that it is a Buck 106. It was a 106 before the camp axe took over that spot.

I made the mistake of sending Matt some pictures of it when I was trying to find a date of the knife. I couldn't access my pre-factory date codes while I was away. It has a four strike stamp...see how the "B" leans away and the "K" is too far to the right on the tang in the fifth and sixth pictures.

Of course most of you probably know that Matt's main collection ARE pre-factory fillet knives. Well, I had to hurry and get these pictures up this Sunday because I believe this knife is going to California soon. :)

These next two pictures really show the translucent Lucite with some light behind it...especially through the green Lucite which is almost clear;

My wildlife picture today is from one of my hikes on the Florida Trail. I was walking north on this two track Jeep road and I saw this rather large black bear come around the corner walking south. We stopped and looked at each other and I took a picture, then started walking towards it. The bear decided to head off to it's left. There was a canal there and I got to hear it slosh through the water.

I like that one. How any were made again? Because the hunt is on.

Thanks again, Armand for the SPS. As usual it's a great show.

I picked up this baby a few days ago (Thanks Larry). The scales are perfect and I love that BG-42. (Sorry about the picture quality. I do the best I can away from home)

Sunset in the Bakken.

Buck pruning shears, 720. A departure from the norm for Buck that I hadn't seen before so I thought that you might like a gander:

Armand that clear blue 426 looks gem-like. I've never seen others like it. My favorite color btw. Beautiful stuff.

D-RIG your BCCI buckle is so rich will you be able to wear it or is it for the display case? Some at the 25th in Post Falls wore theirs immediately and when asked told tales of prior BCCI buckles that were worn proudly for decades without issue. Mines in the case right now.

Outstanding 2dot 112 in excellent condition BF. The side-pull sheath looks well-made and comfortable to carry.

Haebbie your three-bladed Workman with bale looks somewhat like my 813. I'll put up a pic for you. Love those Bucks with bales.

That is a 106! It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas with the colors in that handle. Exciting to see such an antique Stumps.

Wildlife! Kind of wild for me as I usually have coffee alone or mush (oatmeal) but not today. It is comfort food: Egg In A Hole! Watch out below. :) I owe my Mother-In-Law for this wonderful dish. One for me and one for my younger son Jake. Ummmm good. Real good.

Buck 813 dated 1988, Workman, Pro 5000, cat 8358. Mean-looking serious serrations on the hawk's bill blade. Only the screwdriver blade locks with a back lock. A brass divider rests on each side of the center spearpoint blade.

2 dot 112 my brother picked up for me at a Chevy Swap Meet, for $3. Needs a little TLC, but not much.

No clue on this one, it`s marked Buck Custom, and has a black leather sheath. It`s 1/4" thick. My wife found it for me at a garage sale for $10, looks brand new.

My "wildlife" photo, my Boxer Stella.

The middle pic is a Buck "Founders" Knife from Cabelas, $10.00 was a super deal you got for sure.

Here are some more clear pretties though not as rare as ITE's 426.

Oregon, many thanks for the informations. My 813 is from '88 too. The only difference seems to be the serrations on the hawk bill blade. Has it a brown handle too? Or is it black? I can't see the color.

Haebbie

Here are the 811 Guildmaster I and the 812 Guildmaster II to go with todays 813's from Haebbie and Oregon.
I just realized looking at this picture that my 811 is missing its bail on the handle.

That is the darkest brown and that makes a ruling on the color a stretch for me in this dark house with bad lighting on a stormy dark day tough. All scales look the same color. Here are a couple of photos for your examination. First the 813 with the black box it came in. Second the 813 (middle) bookended with the 811 (left) and the 812 (right) for comparison to each other and to the black box. Note that the 811 and 812 came in hinged paper black boxes imprinted with GuildMaster 1 (811) and GuildMaster 2 (812) while the 813 came in a lift-off lid black paper box.

Thank you kindly for the excellent photos of your terrific 800 series folders. If you were any quicker you would arrive before you left (I will check with Stephen Hawking to see about that). :)

Hi All,

Great show going today thank you to Armand and all who have posted to the SPS.

Here is an old scan of some of the Buff handled chippy knives (note the 124's have a silver inlay).

This short lived set of knives made 2 different appearances. Initially appearing as the GuildMaster 1, 2 and 3 series in the 1988 and 1989 catalog. They reappear briefly a few years later in the 90's as part of the Workman product line as the Contractor Pro-1000, 3000 and 5000. Catalog numbers changed between the two series. The Workman line was available boxed or clam. Like Haebbie's, some had WORKMAN cast on the handle instead of BUCK. I suspect they stamped alot of blades in 1988 and the knife never sold as well as hoped.

Dale...I like it!! I would think about wearing jeans again instead of hiking shorts if I had one of those belt buckles. :)

Here is the new BCCI belt buckle this one came in the mail a few days ago . Now on with the show .

I like the 811 and use one most of the three different 800 series shown.

Nice show everyone!!

Another outlier, oddity, departure from the normative is the Quest 430, partially serrated here, made in the USA, thin and doesn't even look like a knife to my sore eyes when folded:

Cindy is away today so I can flail/fling oversized cutlery as I please in the kitchen as long as she doesn't have to nurse anyone when she returns Stumps. I have a user 811 (it is awesome for pull/trapping cuts), the big hawk's bill lockback but the three above are NIB collector's pieces I'm shepherding thru time for a bit.

Thank you for the 800 series history DS. Interesting and detailed, as usual. Much appreciated and good of you to put into the forum for everyone to enjoy.
