The Sunday Picture Show (August 14, 2022)

Happy SPS to one and All,

I hope the weekend is treating you well and you are enjoying it. Thank you Roger for hosting these weekly event and I enjoy the bits of history. Did you know that there is a Buck 110 that commemorates Emperor Hirohito? it was made in 1989 by Taylor Cutlery with Stag handles. I know only one of our members who has one (maybe he will post it for us). Also thank you to all who post photos and add to the content of the shows.

Here is a 110 Like the OPs, it was found at a gun show. It did not come with a box or any info and the seller did not remember who did the custom work or engraving.

Buck 110 with Mt Fuji gold etch. c. 1988. Beautiful stag handles. Mt Fuji is the highest peak in Japan at 12,388'. It is located 60 miles SW of Tokyo and last erupted in 1707. The etch is by Taylor and the serial number location is typical as I have seen some Taylor etches serial numbered on the bolster. I can find no special projects listing for this knife but interestingly there are 3 other Taylor etched stag 110's on the 1989 Special Projects list, Emperor Hirohito, Elvis Presley, and one listed as "Hunter, Stag". I am guessing the Mt Fuji and Emperor Hirohito knives were for export and rare in the USA. The Elvis knife does pop up occasionally but I've not snagged one yet.

Is this a custom 112?
Thanks

The Confederate flag 112 is absolutely in the top 3 of 112 blade cutouts..I seen one Gene Merritt had at the Blade Show a few years ago and that is the only one I have seen in person. I think there's a similar 110 because I was asked to find one for a 110/112 build. Considering that the run was 250 I think few let them go and over the years the two I seen for sale were $400.00 plus.

I liked your Mt. Fuji knife and since you would not sell it to me I found one in a Japanese auction site. It was not that difficult to purchase. I do know where an Elvis knife is for sale and if you send me an email I will give you the contact.
