Hello and welcome to the Sunday Picture Show. Share your Buck knives with others by posting pictures of them here. New or old, plain or custom, user or safe queen, one or a collection, we love to see them all. This weekly tradition was started in 2010 by ItsTooEarly (Armand Hernandez) and Oregon (Steve Dunn). Help keep the tradition alive. Feel free to click that 'LIKE' but lets not let it replace discussing and complimenting each others knives. Above all, enjoy the show. DeSotoSky (Roger Yost)

This Day in History: August 21, 1976 Operation Paul Bunyan
The first image is the tree being removed on Aug 21st. The second image is the preceeding axe murder incident on August 18th.

A tree trimming incident came close to reigniting the Korean War. Operation Paul Bunyan was the most expensive tree removal in history. A tree along the Korean DMZ had grown and was partially blocking the view from an observation tower. On August 18th a small crew and detachment was sent to trim the tree. The North Koreans showed up complaining they were not notified and unexpectedly attacked the trimming party. Two American officers were hacked to death with axes dropped by the tree-trimmers. The response. South Korea went to DEFCON 3 and on August 21, troops in a convoy along with demolition and artilery entered to cut down the tree. In a show of force, attack helicopters, F-4 Phantoms and a B-52 superfortress circled overhead, The Midway carrier fleet positioned itself offshore. Thousands of additional troops were activated. Airbases in Guam, Okinawa, and Idaho were on high alert while the tree was removed. The North Koreans showed up with about 200 troops who set up machine guns but did not respond any further. Operation Paul Bunyan can be Googled if interested in a better explanation.

I found this 307 Paul Bunyan in a small gunshop while visiting my brother in upstate NY. Pretty sure they were a Smoky Mountain issue. That I know of there is also a John Henry.. These knives are so rare I'm sure nothing close to the 1,000 listed on the box were made. These pictures are old and small but the knife is camera shy and couldn't quickly locate it this evening for new ones.

Hello Everybody, Today I am showing a 1991 commemorative M9-A1 from the Gulf War. Only 775 were made I have not seen another. This was the last Bayonet Project made by Phrobis M9-A1 in Spain. It is pristine in condition along with the sheath, and kept in a case by itself. The Arabic phrase means " The Liberation of Kuwait". The opposite side shows the coalition countries that participated.

I am staying with the Paul Bunyon theme, I am sure he never had a Hudson Bay Axe from Maine , but maybe a 122/124 frontiersman.
Thanks Again Roger look forward to Sunday mornings not to many days of outdoor pictures left up here.

I bought two things this week. First was the BOTM 113. It hasn't arrived so I'll show a mammoth tooth 113 by Leroy Remer. Second was a wedding present for my grandson. It hasn't arrived, either, so I'll show a stock photo.

howiema howiema I am guessing what looks like file work on the spine of your 124 is merely picture distortion?

A couple pancake sheath (what I call them) knives to add to today's show as I have not posted anything for a time.
