The Sunday Picture Show (August 28, 2022)

Went to a pretty good knife show yesterday in town and saw this one. There were more bucks for sale then at the blade show a couple years ago when I went.
Pre pandemic I set up at that show. I've pulled alot of Bucks out of that show over the years. Sitting at home today moping about not going. At the moment I am vehicle challenged. Sitting at a red light my truck was rear ended, It is at a collision shop waiting for a new frame. It kinda blows my mind that they are going to completely disassemble my truck and reassemble it on a new frame. I worry it will never be the same. Did not look that bad, bumper, trailer hitch, and a dented tailgate. Called me with the bad news after they got it apart. Frame was buckled where the trailer hitch bolted on. Hit and run, I pulled over and the car that hit me jumped on the interstate on ramp and took off. It was a pretty hard hit, surely their airbags had to have fired. How do you miss a big red truck in bright daylight? Probably on the phone and no insurance. 4-5 day repair now looking like 6 weeks.

I can still mail order knives. Bought this pair from Buck when I ordered the BOTM. Orange Slim Selects.

Sorry to hear of your vehicle accident Roger. I have worked in the bodyshop industry for over 40 years and have only seen a handful of pickups with the frame being replaced. Usually at that point they are a total.
All have been repaired with no problems coming back so with a good tech or two working on it your truck should be back to new whereas with the frame being repaired that would not be the case. Good luck on the 6 weeks though. Prepare yourself for a bit longer. Sometimes takes that long just to get the new frame. Lets hope though that is not the case. Hopefully you fared better than the truck.

Here is a custom 110 drop point with brass barehead frame, mirror polished blade, elk stag with eagle feather raised cutout, red bone, and brass divider.

No knife, but here's part if how I enjoyed my Sunday. This Hawk has been around a while and was even perched on my bird feeder yesterday. I really wanted to get video of him flying away, but he spent more than 10 min ripping apart this squirrel... I don't feel bad in the least as they often eat half the food in my feeders... I stopped filming when it started to snow squirrel parts... View attachment 1913735

Guess I should have posted this one earlier to go along with the day's theme. I had noticed this Buck Knife (model 113, produced in 2011) at a Dick's Sporting Goods store in August 2012. I thought about it and went back and bought it a day or two later. Pictured in the package and out the day after buying it. As I recall I cleaned one or two deer with it - blades a bit short and wide for my tastes but a good knife none-the-less. OH

That sucks you couldn’t make it. You should have ubered. I thought it was a good show. I picked up a barrel nut 103 for $50 and an old lucite for $150.

Superb book. Superb author.
I pulled “Real Ponies don’t go Oink” from my Grandmothers bookcase one summer on a whim when I was around 12-13, read a few stories and was instantly hooked. My Grandmother volunteered at the local used bookstore in our town and she kept an eye out for anything from McManus. After a few years I collected all of his short story books in hardcover. His most recent full length crime/mystery novels are enjoyable as well. He is surely missed. My absolute favorite.

Roger's small skinners made me smile, a few weeks ago I moved some of my display stuff around and did a shelf of small skinners on top of a shelf of 124s.

Small skinners 103, 113, 005 (sorry no energy to pull them out for better photos today
