Hello and welcome to the Sunday Picture Show. Share your Buck knives with others by posting pictures of them here. New or old, plain or custom, user or safe queen, one or a collection, we love to see them all. This weekly tradition was started in 2010 by ItsTooEarly (Armand Hernandez) and Oregon (Steve Dunn). Help keep the tradition alive. Feel free to click that 'LIKE' but lets not let it replace discussing and complimenting each others knives. DeSotoSky (Roger Yost)

On this Day December 22, 1958 the Christmas novelty single "The Chipmunk Song" Christmas Don't Be Late by David Seville and the Chipmunks reaches #1 - the only holiday chart-topper until Mariah Carey’s "All I Want for Christmas Is You" in 2019. "The Chipmunk Song" became one of the best selling singles of all time with 5 million copies sold. The Chipmunks received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2019. Created by Ross Bagdasarian for Novelty records in 1958. The group consists of three singing animated chipmunks named Alvin, Simon, Theodore, and their "human" father David Seville. Bagdasarian provided the group's voices by producing sped-up recordings of his own voice.

A Buck 103 done for Ducks Unlimited in 2009. 2500 of these were made. Lots of nice features, a fitted leatherette box, charcoal handle with laser etched and gold filled logo, and an etched scene on the blade.

Even people who are big fans of "The Chipmunk Song" probably know the opening notes of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony which was first performed on December 22, 1808. The four note motif of di, di, di, dah (. . . —) has been appropriated for a lot of popular music, and since those notes later stood for the letter "v" in Morse code, the 5th Symphony became popular during World War II with "V for Victory" as a slogan.

IMG_8352.jpegGood morning Buck lovers! I always enjoy seeing your beautiful knives. Mine might not be as nice to look at, but I admire them just the same. Here’s my 112 that rides on my hip everyday at work. Thanks for hosting the SPS, and letting us all share your stories and history. Merry Christmas to everyone! Lance

C Chilebrown that is a spectacular Yellowhorse knife! Tell us more about it please.
Howling Wolf is the title of this David Yellowhorse custom Buck 110. There are engraved brass bolsters; ironwood handle with turquoise inlays. The Howling Wolf is against a mother of pearl moon. The Howling Wolf design was offered in several configurations of the Buck 110. This particular version was sold by Heritage Collectibles and features a gold titanium nitrate blade. There were a 100 made of this version and this one is numbered 064/100

I Didn't realize the Christmas song was from that far back. They've been a popular group for a long time. When I was a little one they had The Chipmunk Adventure movie in 1987, pretty sure my parents got tired of watching that one. My kids had the live action ones. I guess when pops was a kid he probably had some Alvin and the chipmunks cartoons too. Lol.

Pretty neat.

Happy Sunday!
