Roger,

Like you, I was a little confused about these impala knives. They were marketed as "Siberian Impala", which makes it all the more confusing since there are no impalas native to anywhere near Siberia. They are a W B Cody design and he clarified the Siberian Impala question for me. The material came from a game farm in Siberia. I have all four of the models and here is a 501. They are great looking knives.

The Cabela's versions were Buffalo horn. Check out the Cabela's description... Impala jigged Buffalo horn

Collectors and fine knife afficionados alike will appreciate the quality and craftsmanship that goes into these knives. The cherrywood inlays and impala jigged buffalo horn handles provide an exquisite aesthetic that truly stands out. The 420HC stainless steel drop-point blades sharpen easily, are corrosion-resistant and hold an edge. And they're polished to a mirror finish for added appeal. Both of these limited-edition knives come with a limited-edition box that will keep them protected and complements them when on display. Available: 2-3/4" blade, 3-7/8" closed 1-7/8" blade, 2-3/4" closed

Yes, I am fairly sure that all those posted here are also jigged buffalo horn, as impala horn is very thin and the ribs are much further apart than they are on these slabs.

Are you including the "Siberian impala" as jigged buffalo horn or are you just talking about the Cabela's knives? W B Cody says the "Siberian impala" are impala.

Burt,

I'm sure they are only talking about the Cabela's 501 that has been posted. I can confirm the Cabela's 501 was Water Buffalo & Red wood (Cherry) bolsters. They also did a 505 size in that configuration.

I wouldn't dispute the man that made them. But I think most of the stuff BUCK has done has been imitation.
