The Sunday Picture Show (February 22, 2026)

Thanks Roger for your continued efforts.

There's some nice stuff this week.

Awhile ago I put these few in a box, in the leather sheath. I try to never do that.
Here they are after cleaning some of the green off of them.
I need more storage options.🫤

I seem to remember I read somewhere that if wrapped in wax paper before putting into sheath this will prevent the green stuff!?!🤔👍

I would suggest saran or stretch wrap. Clings better and thinner for a good fit into the sheath. One of those small rolls with the handle is handier than a pocket on a shirt for all sorts of stuff around the kingdom, inside and out. That said, I try not to STORE brass in the sheath, and if the knife is in regular use I wouldn't bother with either. The verdigris only happens with long term stationary storage in the sheath giving the tannins in the leather opportunity.

Happy SPS

Interesting historical note about an incident I don't recall ever hearing about. Sort of feel bad for the pilot/pilots. Can you imagine celebrating your great victory only to find out you killed over 500 of your own men? OTOH, they were the enemy and the pilots probably accidently saved many British lives :thumbsup: War sucks.

Keeping to WWII theme, here's a bevy of Spitfires:

The SPS is like a favorite park bench one would pass on a walk, just there at the right time to take a rest and enjoy the scenery. Or I can hear Uncle Jed say come in and set awhile, as he whittles a stick with his pocket knife and the hound dog by his feet. He says, “Oooo, doggies.”
