The Sunday Picture Show (January 14th, 2024)

Haven't had a Vantage out for awhile now. With sub-zero temps here today, I thought this 346 would be the most appropriate since it's handle material reminds me of nice warm Wolf fur.

Apologies to DeSotoSky DeSotoSky 😉...

January 14, 1943 marked the beginning of the Casablanca Conference. It was primarily between Churchill and Roosevelt discussing the invasion of Sicily and the channel crossing. It also resulted in Roosevelt's somewhat controversial declaration of "unconditional surrender".

Pulling for the Motor City Kitties this weekend!

Its long been accepted that the Devil would be shopping for ice skates if the Lions won the superbowl. Negative 9 degrees F this morning so we're headed the right way 😃

Go Lions!

Can't let January 14th go without a "114". Yes, Buck did have a model 114 in the late 40's but it is one I do not have.
Here is a cut from the 1949 catalog.

Here is a 1940's 108 Sportsman shown with a modern 102. The 114 is the 108 without the guard or clip.
In the 1951 catalog the 3.5" Sportsman was offered in a longer version, the 4" 102.

No apologies necessary. I was looking at the Paris Treaty of 1783 ending the Revoutionary war but explaining in a meaningful way was complicated and it was getting late so needed to just get the "Show" on the road. Thought about getting up early and working on something else... but you know the story.... cold morning and warm bed.

Back to the show, here is an original Custom Shop Sambar Stag. Notice there are two handle pins, not the usual 3.
That was common practice in the Custom Shop.
