Residents of Washington D.C. finally were able to vote in national elections with passage of the 23 Ammendment in 1960 so with that they were able to vote in the 1964 Presidential for the first time. They were given 3 electoral votes. Washington DC with an area of about 68 square miles has a population greater than Vermont or Montana. There is a statehood movement but I do not think it is going anywhere soon. Washington D.C. history and politics is quite interesting and had intended to a mini narrative this week but sometimes I feel accomplishment just getting the show started on time. This will have to suffice I guess. Thanks Roger for doing the Sunday Picture Show and a History Lesson. It’s sad that the residents of Washington D.C. have less representation in Congress than many states that have fewer inhabitants.
