The Sunday Picture Show (July 21st, 2024)

Thank you Roger for doing the Sunday Picture Show and the History lesson. I have been away for a while owing to my excess (6500) attachments. I have whittled them down to 90 which are not erasable. Now there is a little room to post pictures. This is a 2018 BCCI take apart Aluminum knife with a “knapped” steel blade and Desert Ironwood scales.

Was this a knife show, a gun and knife show, or a gun show that had a few knives? All I have seen over the past few years around me are gun shows that have a few knives along with other random stuff. I would love to attend a show that had more knife options and a little more knife variety. This is an old 110 I picked up in January at a gun, jerky, honey, hot sauce, stamped concrete, and a few knives show.
Yes, it was a knife only show, held annually. There are 4/5 knife only shows within driving distance of St Louis every year. The Gateway Area Knife Club show is next month. Pre pandemic I went to every gun show within driving distance searching for Buck knives and set up at a few of the local knife shows. Kinda fell out of the habit.

I've shown this one several times.

A "Baby Scout" Another repeat to move the show along. I purchased the knife and sheath together at a gun show and it was a head scratcher. The "story line" given was that it was a salesman's sample. My WTF moment turned to a DUH moment when I realized it was an early 90's 3" paring knife stuck into a late 90's 475 Mini-Mentor sheath. The 2nd and 3rd pictures show it along with an actual 107 Scout (a 4" paring knife). I don't always believe everything I'm told but the price was right and it tickeled my fancy.

I have a 107 and a single steak knife.

The handle on the steak knife is noticeably smaller in all directions except length. I thought they’d be identical. I was also surprised the ran the serations to the point. You can see the serration caused the point to break off.

Two other historical events happened on July 21st and Buck has a knife for both.

The Battle of 1st Manassas (Bull Run) in 1861. There is a 531 commemorating that battle.
I have the Manassas knife somewhere. I'm parked for the evening, not gonna go find it.

Bill Hickock vs Davis Tutt, 1865 Considered to be the first documented one on one fast draw pistol showdown. (Just like Matt Dillon does at the beginning of every Gunsmoke episode) Tutt missed but Hickock did not. Buck has a Wild Bill Hickock 110, See jb4570 jb4570 's knife in post #33 above.

Jesse James was not a folk hero but a cold blooded killer.
I agree, but just as in our times, publicity can distort opinions. My wife's father, born almost 120 years ago in northwest Missouri, was named James Woodson, after Jesse Woodson James. An acquaintance with the last name of Cole, claims Jesse James as a distant relative and would never accept the idea that James was a psychopath.
