Hello and welcome to the Sunday Picture Show. Share your Buck knives with others by posting pictures of them here. New or old, plain or custom, user or safe queen, one or a collection, we love to see them all. This weekly tradition was started in 2010 by ItsTooEarly (Armand Hernandez) and Oregon (Steve Dunn). Help keep the tradition alive. Feel free to click that 'LIKE' but lets not let it replace discussing and complimenting each others knives. Enjoy the show. DeSotoSky (Roger Yost)

On this day July 30, 1956
A resolution declared 'IN GOD WE TRUST' the official national motto of the United States. It was passed unanimously in both houses without debate. Before then, E pluribus unum, (Out of many, One) was the de facto official motto. It did not replace E pluribus unum on the official Great Seal of the United States. Although some early usage of the term can be found in the mid 1700's it gained traction during the Civil War to declare that God was on the side of the Union as a morale booster. The 125th Pennsylvania Infantry adopted the motto "In God we trust". I think it an interesting paradox in our national consciousness in that separation of church and state is a founding principal. In the 1600's my namesake Roger Williams (Yost) was a strong proponent of separation. (might have something to do with my father having been a student of theology). Williams, having suffered religious persecution, believed that any government involvement in the church would corrupt the church. A century and a half later the first clause in the Bill of Rights states that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion".

Given this week's history topic is "In God We Trust" what better knife to kick off the show is one that came with a silver dollar... the 1993 model 312 Silver Buck trapper. I found it listed on the 1993 Special Projects list with no build quantity given. Mine is sn.269 so at least that many. Could not find any information in the old newsletters. I did find mention in an old post by 300bucks they were a Smoky MountaIn project. The current price of silver is $24.35 per troy ounce.
