The Sunday Picture Show (July 30, 2023)

mother in law dropped off some art today
Loved the art, looks like some special pieces. I'm not sure which one you mentioned was signed for the chief, but, as I was looking I saw that the two close ups of the 'Field and Line Officers...' were copyrighted by SB Holabird. Before I left for Viet Nam, I was stationed at Ft. Holabird(late 1969-1971). I can't make out the signature of the artist...was it SB himself?

Knife content...two trappers walk into this bar, no, no, that's not right ;)

pjsjr pjsjr I am not sure on those posters. The artist is not Holabird. They are copywriter by him, so I believe they are recruitment posters. Not sure if the art is original or a print, I would have to do a bit more of an examination. These have been up at my mother In laws for quite a bit. Her and her husband used to love going to estate sales and auctions in MA so some of it is old and original. I love the painting of the fire.View attachment 2269878View attachment 2269880View attachment 2269881

I searched and found a 'Silver Buck' for my Brother Charlie about 5 years ago and it was a long ,long hunt. It still had the silver Eagle but the box was ratty and falling apart. I liked the insert in the handle! Premium for a Eagle still runs close to $10.00 and over but is dropping because it's almost stupid to pay that big of a premium. I love silver and think it's way under valued..20221224_150514.jpg20230501_113657.jpg

B BennyBlade Thanks for taking the time and looking. You're probably right about those being recruiting pictures.. The close up of the artist's signature clearly shows it was not Holabird. All are nice pieces, enjoy them.
A lot of our time spent there was going to flea markets and second hand stores. Found some excellent items...sadly, no knives.
