Hello and welcome to the Sunday Picture Show. Share your Buck knives with others by posting pictures of them here. New or old, plain or custom, user or safe queen, one or a collection, we love to see them all. This weekly tradition was started in 2010 by ItsTooEarly (Armand Hernandez) and Oregon (Steve Dunn). Help keep the tradition alive. Feel free to click that 'LIKE' but lets not let it replace discussing and complimenting each others knives. Above all, enjoy the show. DeSotoSky (Roger Yost)

This day in history July 31, 1954. First Successful summit of K2 by Italian team members Lacedelli & Compegnoni. K2 is the 2nd highest mountain on earth at 28,251'. (Everest is 29,032) K2 is a much deadlier mountain to cllimb than Everest killing 1 person for every 4 that summit. As of 2021, 377 people have successfully summited K2 with the mountain claimimg 91 lives. Compare to Everest which has been summited 10,656 times by 6,098 different people, with 311 lives lost. The name K2 derives from an 1856 British survey of the region, K2 being the 2nd peak of the Karakoram range.

Speaking of mountains...Buck trivia. What I refer to as the "Triangle Mountain Logo" or "The Edge for Life" logo first appears in the 1998 catalog and was used thru 2001. It is associated with the Green/Brown boxes used during the same time period. I think it was a great logo and wonder that it was used for such a short period of time.

When I ordered the July BOTM I took the opportunity to pick up some Slim Selects from the Web Specials page. I like matching pairs. The frames are glass filled Nylon. Shown are the Red and OD Green. I picked up an extra Red 110 for an EDC. Of interest is that the Reds have nail notches and the OD Greens have thumb studs. I believe this is an accomodation for Canadian export where thumb studs are not permitted. (is that right?)

Thank you Roger for another Sunday Picture Show and thanks to all who post photos and comment.
There was a movie made about the ascent of K2 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K2_(film) I've caught several parts and tried to watch it, but it just didn't hold my attention.
I have this knife(and several others 😊 ) and a dealer case from this time period...

Cool display!

Here are a few of my favorites:

The Custom shop I had made years ago with the water buffalo and the BG42 Steel, I used to carry it but like it to much
My 102 which I like the best of my fixed blades.
You know there is always a story - the third knife the 110 I found on a logging road near Mount Katahdin in northern Maine while I was up there deer hunting, it was crushed into the dirt broken scales, ridden over.
The blade was fine nearly new from what I could see and still is. I bought some guitar fret material sanded down the rear bolster epoxied and use a compression brass stud for the rear. That was about my extent in knifesmithing lol.
Thanks again Roger great Sunday AM pic show. Pete

Good Sunday morning to all. I don't know what took me so long, I think I've been a member here since 2005, but I now look forward to the Sunday picture show. Better late than never. Thanks to Roger and everyone else posting their beautiful knives.
I only own 3 Buck knives and never thought one of mine would fit into the show but here we go.
Roger, after seeing your Slims, I wish I had gotten a green one. :)
