B281 and B282s. I always liked these plastic linerlocks. The boxes contained knives with a 2001 tang stamp. I don't know if Buck also used these boxes in '01, or if they were sold in '02 with knife blades from '01. In either event, another box used by Buck that also had the mountain logo on it. The 282 sitting on top has the '02 anvil tang stamp which is kind of cool .

reading about why the mountain logo was used i came across an article in wsj in 2004. it covers that Buck before moving to Idaho to stay competitive and in business almost became a marketing only company and outsourced all its production overseas to China and the like. luckily for us they choose to find a business friendly state and move from the death spiral that California had become to business.....

they also looked at Washington state and Tenn..but avoided Washington as it was too similar to Cali.

I'm sure many of y'all were aware of this, but it kinda surprised me.....but I should know better..business is business........

I like everything about these. The steel, the handle scales which do not have super-aggressive texturing and even the clips ( I know I may be in the minority on the clips, ha ha).

A slim 112 is a frequent carry for me and I agree with you regarding the clip. It seems to work just like its supposed to and better than some I have.

Thank you Roger for the show and the History lesson. Ueli Steck, the famous mountaineer, designed a Mountain knife for Wenger. Mountain climbing is not a game. Ueli died on Nuptse on 4/30/17. I get my mountain kicks on down hill skis.
One of my favorite Bucks is a Ti 560 that has a ZrN BuckCote blade. It is chisel sharpened, and the micro edge is 86HRC. I skinnied up the handle to 3/8”, added a pocket clip and thumb stud, jimped the rocker, and engraved my name and address on the rocker.View attachment 1886274View attachment 1886271View attachment 1886272View attachment 1886273

Great show everyone. Thanks to all.

Here are a few 112's to add to the show.

A bit of +/- seems to apply with all things Buck.

addendum... mbkr mbkr I went back to the catalogs for a second look. 2001 is the first appearance of the 4-color scheme and the last year I see the Triangle Mountain Logo. So yes, a 1 year overlap. I mistakenly thought 2002 was the first year for the 4-color scheme.

This WAS my buck 112 collection. Currently carrying the 2nd from the left in Micarta. The one on the right is missing in action. I've ordered three more. Two nail-nick web specials in two different colors handles and another one with thumb studs. That very reason is why I got the slim select in the first place. I don't want to lose a $90 knife. I came to really appreciate it and really liked it.
Roger, thanks for another SPS! The history lesson was great. K2, the hardest mountain to climb. Thanks everybody!

T tiguy7 It is the gray finish on your Ti 560 that catches my eye. I can only recall seeing that "crystaline" finish in gold. 2001 and 2003 as I recall. always wondered why no 2002 Anvil.
They made the 560’s with the “frost on the window” look in Silver and Champagne. The knife in my pictures above is actually Champagne colored as is the blade. Neither are showing up very well. The lighting must be off. The blade is not original to the knife and was made in the ‘90’s.
