Hello and welcome to the Sunday Picture Show. Share your Buck knives with others by posting pictures of them here. New or old, plain or custom, user or safe queen, one or a collection, we love to see them all. This weekly tradition was started in 2010 by ItsTooEarly (Armand Hernandez) and Oregon (Steve Dunn). Help keep the tradition alive. Feel free to click that 'LIKE' but lets not let it replace discussing and complimenting each others knives. DeSotoSky (Roger Yost)

Today, June 23rd, is National Pink Flamingo Day.
"In 1957, Don Featherstone sculptured the first three-dimensional pink plastic flamingo, thereby making
affordable bad taste accessible to the American public"

Manufactured by Union Products in Leominster, Massachusetts from 1957 until 2006 when the rights and molds were sold to another company. They were first sold as a pair in the Sears Roebuck catalog for $2.76, a pair can be purchased today for under $20 on Amazon. Originals would have Featherstone's signature under the tail end of the mold. A pair consisted of two poses, one standing upright and one bent over feeding. National Pink Flamingo Day was created in 2007 by Dean Mazzaralla, the mayor of Leominster, MA, to honor Don Featherstone--the creator of the plastic lawn flamingo.
Flamingos are not genetically Pink, the feather coloring comes from their diet, shrimp, other tiny insects, and algae.
A group of Flamingos is called a "flamboyance".

For Pink Flamingo Day I have a 112 Ranger in Pink Smooth Bone with a Drop Point blade.
Brass frame with a Nickel Silver Inlay. Offered in 4 colors. Pink, Red, Blue, and Purple.
These were a 2017 issue thru Smoky Mountain with a quantity of 150 for each color.
It took me a good while to find the knife last night so I was in a crunch to get something posted.
That is why I didn't get the best pictures or the brass shined up....

My wife's sister & her husband bought a Winter house in Florida about 20 years ago & she absolutely hated all the pink flamingoes. So naturally, every birthday, Christmas, or any other excuse she could think of, my wife would buy her some flamingo lawn ornaments. She ended up loving the darn things & has flamingo stuff all over their places in FL & in OH.

I don't have any pink flamingoes, but here's a pic of the 112 beater Buck that's been in my pocket since I got it a few weeks ago.

How about some finger grooves today, Thank You for the SPS Roger

Thanks to Roger and everyone else. When I lived in FL for three years I daw enough pinkies to last a lifetime. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate them I just don't want any stuck in my lawn. :)
My Buck of the show goes to Howiema. Love those colors on that middle one!

Ever since I lost the ability to post pic's... I feel sad.
Post repeats. I post alot of repeats these days. Repeats are always welcome on the SPS. I held off as long as I could but as host of the SPS I've been 'forced' to start using Imgur to keep my content interesting. It works OK but loosing about 1,500 image links posted here from Photobucket left me cautious. I Never knew there was an image limit, I currently have about 2,400 or 1,900 over my 500 alloment so I guess I got my moneys worth. The forum has been slow in offering up a solution.

I turned 71 this month so as I start my 8th decade I think about legacy. Pictures posted directly here will live on but hosted images (like Photobucket) will eventually join me in death 🤣 🤣 🤣

thanks Roger for the show and y'all for posting.

not quite pink, but closest I got. think Buck used the ugliest micarta color they could find on this 3v 104. think it's supposed to be a red color, but mine throws a red towards pinkish brown shade to my eye.

flamingos are supposed to be a native bird to Florida. I saw rare few as a boy in s. Florida, outside of zoos and such. I've never seen one up here where I am now, but they seem to be spreading and repopulating the state again after they were almost wiped out.

have a great Sunday.....

That's become my favorite 104.
II was always partial to the d2 version, but that 3v is really nice.
