The Sunday Picture Show (June 4th, 2023)

Buck did a great job putting this one together for us.

It would be really cool to see a two blade, Elk covered 303 someday.

This is one of my favorite 112's..I give the BCCI a round of applause for creating such a cool Buck! It's unique model and a short run. I have not seen one for sale outside the Club and one I think will hold it's collectable value very well..20221021_151045.jpg

Since CJ's son Josh has earned mention in today's show I'll take the opportunity to display his contribution to our world.
Josh was the designer of the model 005 Gen-5 knife introduced in 2007.
I have a number of Gen-5's in my collection but the original Snakewood version is my favorite.
A limited edition of 500 with a 154CM steel blade.

Thank you Roger for doing the Sunday Picture show. I started a mini discussion on making knives lighter so I could carry more of them. The coring of scales is one approach. Another is the reduction of scale thickness. Knives 2 and 3 in this picture are factory 560’s. #2, the older model, is 1/2” thick. #3, the newer model, is 7/16” thick. #4 is a newer model that has been reduced in thickness to 3/8”. #1 is a model 186 which was a precursor to the 560. All of these cast Titanium knives had blind holes in the exterior of the scales. These holes helped control the shrinkage that occurred in casting as well as lightening the scales and improving the gripability View attachment 2207475

Thank you to all my Buck friends for posting pictures of some of your Buck treasures especially to Roger our host for getting this show up and running every Sunday.
At the end of next month will be the Buck Collectors Club 35th Anniversary gathering in Post Falls Idaho. Should be a great time for all that attend. Hope to see some of you there.
Here is a 101 that I picked up 5 years ago at the 30th.

Hi All, hope you are enjoying your weekend. Thank you Roger for being our host and the same to each of you who take the time to add photos or conversation.

I got this 192 from an auction house, shipping cost was just shy of $100 , when it arrived the knife stand was smashed. The auction house made good as the shipping coved insurance, I kind of glued the ceramic stand back together.

Regarding the "450" I posted above:
Some times when you're trying to figure something out, its good to set it aside for awhile. I had searched for "Buck 450" because the blade is marked "450". Basically got nowhere. Mulling it over today it occurred to me that maybe I should have been searching for "112" since it has a 112 frame with a 450 blade. I still only found minimal info, but it appears that it was sold as the "Buck 112 Ecolite Father and Son Signature Edition". Given that, it makes total sense that the mystery signature is CJ's son Josh, as pjsjr pjsjr suggested.
Frankly, I'll sleep better tonight :D

jb4570 jb4570 The Bear was part of the 2005 Friends of NRA Banquet merchandise package and came with a Buck 192. Yes I did get the knife with it but dang if I couldn't find it years ago when I took this picture. The Bear is a little harder to misplace....:) I believe the knife was available independently of the sculpture.

They made a bunch of the 192 knives (1025). However, they only made a few of the displays (50 if I remember right) and they were raffled off at the 2005 Friends Of The NRA events with the knife. So the knife is not that uncommon, The ceramic Bear Display is! Congratulations Roger for having a display in perfect condition.
