My absolute favorite 600 series Buck is a 653 I won on eBay for less than $6.00 delivered with a kinda ratty shieth! I wore that on my belt for the 2009 Blade Show and called it my eBay 'Trophy' knife. I gave it to Joe to take back to Post Falls for a Spa because I COULD NOT get the Tanto tip right. The seller was bummed it went so cheep and wanted to cancel the sale..
On the 112 frame being short/different on early knives I haven't noticed that BUT on V1-V1's I have noticed the blade is absolutely shorter than 3" on perhaps 5% of pristine NIB examples. I think one or two workers wanted to make SURE the blade was under 3" .. Lots of hand work in that time frame.

Yes differences in blade length I expected. I wasn't expecting a difference in frame length. I just happened to have all three knives open and lined up, when I noticed the Segua wood knives appeared to have shorter frames. So I got out my calipers and started measuring. The difference isn't as great as my eyeball measurement thought it would be, but it is there. I have never seen frame size differences mentioned, so thought I would ask if anyone else had noticed it. The ebony handled knife is a two dot. If that matters to anyone.

I don't suppose it matters. I just thought it interesting.

O.B.

The Nighthawks really got me back into collecting Buck knives. This is one of my favorites.
I just scored one of these recently. What a beast! And unlike the hollow grind 1995 650C I have, the 653 is not a hollow grind. I asked on the forum what people thought about Buck's 425M vs 420HC. The 650C is 425M and the 653 is 420HC. I know it's negligible. But both are also great water knives.
