Hello and welcome to the Sunday Picture Show. Share your Buck knives with others by posting pictures of them here. New or old, plain or custom, user or safe queen, one or a collection, we love to see them all. This weekly tradition was started in 2010 by ItsTooEarly (Armand Hernandez) and Oregon (Steve Dunn). Help keep the tradition alive. Feel free to click that 'LIKE' but lets not let it replace discussing and complimenting each others knives. Above all, enjoy the show. DeSotoSky (Roger Yost)

The Death of Julius Caesar by Vincenzo Camuccini (1806)
*
March 15 is known as the Ides of March, and famously marks the 44 BC assassination of Julius Caesar.
Caesar was stabbed to death at a meeting of the Senate. As many as 60 conspirators, led by Brutus and Cassius, were involved.
In the ancient Roman calendar, the Ides (Latin Idus) marked the midpoint of each month, traditionally falling on the 15th of March, May, July, and October, and the 13th of all other months. "Beware the Ides of March" is a famous warning spoken by a Soothsayer to Julius Caesar in Act 1, Scene 2 of William Shakespeare’s play The Tragedy of Julius Caesar (1599).
60 second history lesson - why Caesar was assassinated.

For March 15th, the model 315 Yachtsman (Camillus contract knife)
300bucks (Craig Heflebower) listed 7 variations in a post on 7/30/2007 .
1. Metal bolsters, Tang marked BUCK Made In USA, 315 on opposite side, solid spring
2. Metal bolsters, tang marked BUCK 315 USA, solid back spring
3. Metal bolsters, tang BUCK 315 USA, partial serrated blade
4. Metal bolsters, tang BUCK 315 USA, SPLIT back spring
5. No metal bolsters, BUCK 315 USA, no scale rivets, BUCK hot pressed into one scale
6. No metal bolsters, BUCK 315 USA, no scale rivets, nothing marked on scale, Solid spring
7. No metal bolsters, BUCK 315 USA, two scale rivets on scale, Split spring

Here is the first variation listed above with the model number stamped on the pyle side. I figure about 1972-1974.

Thank you Roger for doing the Sunday Picture Show and the History lesson. Brutus and John Wilkes Booth both hollered Sic Semper Tyrannis, but they each had a different understanding of tyrants. Some Buck knives have scales that are made out of injection molded Carbon fiber. The Carbon fiber is chopped up, mixed with thermoplastic pellets ( like Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene), heated, melted, and injected into a mold. Even though the ABS alloy makes up 70% of the scale, the product is called Carbon fiber. This stuff is tough (hard to drill or machine). Here are 110 and 112 samples.IMG_0817.jpeg

Thanks for the history lesson, and hosting another SPS, Roger. I hope everyone's having a great weekend. My pic for today is a Buck/Wenger that my kids got me for Christmas, probably early 1990-something. It's been sort of a safe queen.

Been pimping this pic all morning on other threads and swore I would stop, but then you make a great post about the carbon fiber....

The closest to a 315 I can get is a 307 and a 319 which when averaged gives 313 which is pretty darn close :)

Note that I shamelessly purloined the meme from r8shell r8shell in another thread. Thanks r8shell!
Haha! I got it from somewhere on the interwebs a few years ago.

Here's another:
